SECTIONS:
Most UA dressage classes are run under two Sections, Restricted and Open. These sections are offered in the interest of fairness to all riders. Sections ensure that those who are new to competing can be placed in the class alongside competitors of similar experience. Those who have wider experience of competing through equine affiliations or through riding more advanced horses, will be able to enter the Open section.
Sections are not offered in all classes but, where sections are applicable, they are defined as per the below.
RESTRICTED:
This section is reserved for riders who have limited experience of competitions, and who only compete in the Unaffiliated Dressage environment.
Competitors may ride in the Restricted section if neither they, nor their horse, are registered with BD, BS or BE.
If either the competitor or the competitor’s horse is registered with BD, BS or BE, they must ride in the Open section.
OPEN:
Any horse or rider who is registered with BD/BE/BS should enter the Open section of an UA Dressage class.. This means that if either a rider or their horse is registered with an Affiliated Equine body, they should enter the Open section.
Riders who won have more than 40 BD points at Preliminary level and above should also ride in the Open section of any UA Class, even if they are no longer registered with BD.
Riders who compete at BD Quest and BS Club level should enter the Open section of UA Dressage Competitions.
Any competitor who has won an UA Dressage Championship at Bury Farm may enter the same level at which they have previously won but they should enter the Open section at that level and any level below. They may compete in the Restricted section for any level above the level at which they have previously won.
Please note that it is the rider’s responsibility to enter the correct section at our UA Dressage Shows. We will not change rider sections after times have been published.
Music for freestyle classes should ideally be presented to the Bury Farm show team in both a CD and USB stick format to provide the maximum opportunity to play the music successfully from our sound system. Please place music clearly labelled with horse and rider name into the MUSIC IN basket located on the show secretaries' desk.
