FUN WITH LETTERS & LINES (WITH/WITHOUT THE JUMPS)

Help to gain confidence working in an open space, practice what to do in a warm up, gain tips for working your horse in, preparation for dressage tests and SJ rounds

LETTERS

You will be having a 1-1 in a dressage arena unfenced, work on the test of your choice, to overcome ‘those nerves’ as you enter, how to manage ‘the bogey’ corner, what to do before the bell sounds, help where you can gain those elusive marks. (a caller will be provided; you will need to bring your own test sheet, LONG OR SHORT ARENA)

LINES

You will be doing a ‘show jumping round’ all the poles can be removed, you will be riding a course with/without the poles, going through the wings as if you were jumping the round. If suitable poles on the ground or cross poles may be added in during the session but only for those who are happy to have this. IT WILL NOT BE COMPLULSORY you will be practising at the level you feel comfortable with.

SUITABLE FOR:

All ages and abilities, can be led (leader must be able to run/keep up lol)

HORSES MUST BE OVER 4YRS /RIDER ANY AGE

WHEN: Sunday 20^th Sept 2026

Closing Date: Wednesday 16^th September 2026 5pm  

TIME: not before 10.15 am (depending on the heat it may start earlier)

COACHES: Sarah Jane Hornby (LETTERS) and Sally Ede (LINES)

We are using our training grant from British Riding clubs of £150 to subsidise the costs

HOW IT WILL WORK! WHAT IS IT?

15 mins ‘warm up’ with Jo D- just like you would before you enter the arena- this is entirely optional, its available to use if you wish, this will be strictly for 15 mins before your allotted time, if you need longer arrive earlier and work on your own.

30 mins 1-1 with Sarah Jane in a dressage arena working on a test of your choice (please specify on MRL which test and bring a copy with you! Walk/Trot Test with lower/no jumps will have earlier times)

Immediately followed by:

30 mins 1-1 with Sally Ede using the show jumps with or without the poles: lower jumps/no poles will have earlier times, please specify on MRL

Total Training Time: 1 hr

Due to the nature of what we are running you will receive a ‘TIME’ (on FB Fri 19^th Sept) those doing walk/trot tests and lower or no poles will be earlier

MAXIMUM ENTRIES: 10 so get your entries in quick 1^st come 1^st served

WE NEED 2 ‘VOLUNTEERS’ TO HELP SALLY EDE, PUTTING UP JUMPS ETC

Also, a steward to get people from one arena to the other on time! 1 x caller for the LETTERS
