Perpetual Trophy Awards

 

Awarded to the member gaining the most points over the two days of the show

 

·         Stan Hill Memorial Cups to the Senior and Junior Member;

·         Rookery Jasper Cup to the Minimus member;

·         May Rose Snow Queen Cup to the Novice Member; and

·         A J L Connell Cup to the Leading Rein member

 

To qualify, members must have competed in at least one of the Saturday classes. Points are awarded for 3 classes on Saturday and 2 classes on Sunday. Points are awarded for 1st to 6th places.

 

The points trophies will be awarded immediately after class 36

 

 

   Age groups for 2026

 

Senior – born in or before 2012

Junior – born in 2013, 2014, or 2015

Minimus – born in or after 2016

 

Novice – This category is to support those who wish to take part but remain on the flat. If you enter a Novice class, you will be classed in the Novice category throughout the show and for overall points. Whilst you will compete with your age group, any points gained will count towards the overall Novice trophy across all ages.

 

Our Sunday Jumping Schedule will include Pony Club Mini Championship Qualifiers for Individuals

 

The Mini Championships and NAF Regional Championships are being held at the Bicton Arena 26th Aug – 28th Aug

 

The Mini Champs consists of Show Jumping, which combinations need to have qualified for and there will also be dressage which can be entered directly for no qualification, but combinations must be eligible. It is a friendly well run championship experience and a proper stepping stone towards bigger championships

Below you will find additional specific rules for some of the classes across the weekend:

 

Dressage Classes – Saturday – Rules

1.       In addition to the General show rules shown below, the Dressage classes will be run in accordance with the Pony Club Dressage Rule Book which can be found here:  https://resources.pcuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/RULEBOOK-Dressage-2026-Web.pdf

2.       Pony Club badge metal membership badge should be worn on the left side of the rider’s jacket.

3.       All riders must wear gloves

4.       Tack must comply with rules outlined in the link above

 

Show Jumping Class rules – Sunday

A7 - All clears in the first round will go into a drawn order jump off over a shortened course against the clock.

 

Single phase - The first half of the course is not against the clock, the second half of the course is against the clock, faults count from both halves.

 

Baton relay - The first pony/rider combination jump jumps 1-6 of a course, then change over a stick so that the second pony/rider combination jump jumps 7-12 – all against the clock.

 

Jump and Bend

Riders will negotiate a set of fences (or poles for the poles class) and finish with some bending poles.  This will be judged in style over the jumps and through the bending.

 

 

 

Mini Championship Jumping Classes – Sunday - Rules

1.       Classes 18a, 18b, 18c, 19, 20 and 21 are qualifiers for the 2026 Pony Club Mini Champs to be held at Bicton Arena

2.       The top three placings in classes 18a, 18b, 18c, 19, 20 and 21 will qualify for the 2026 Pony Club Mini Champs to be held at Bicton Arena

3.       The qualifier classes will be held as single-phase, with a timed second round to decide final placings

4.       A combination is not permitted to compete at 50cm or above if they are competing in the 40cm lead rein or 40cm assisted classes.

5.       Unassisted combinations are able to compete in two consecutive height classes (e.g Unassisted 40cm & 50 cm – or 50cm & 60cm)

6.       A pony is limited to a maximum of two show jumping classes per day at the championships

7.       Any combination of horse and rider may not compete where the height is more than 20cm lower that that at which they have previously competed

8.       A combination may only compete in one section of class 18

9.       If a combination is placed in the top 6 at the Championships, they are unable to compete at the same level the following year.

Terms & Conditions

 

 

 

General Show Rules

1.       The Judge & Show Organiser’s decision in all matters will be final

2.       Horses/Ponies must be 5 years or over

3.       Ponies need to be turned out smartly on the Saturday – but do not have to be plaited

4.       Tack should be in accordance with Pony Club Rules

5.       Dress: Show Jackets, Shirt & Tie. Hats must be to Pony Club standard and tagged (pink tag) – see Show secretary before you mount if you need your hat tagged. Body protectors (must be BETA 2018 Level 3 Standard (blue and black label)) and martingales / neck straps are not compulsory but highly recommended.

6.       The wearing of any sort of jewellery when handling or riding a horse/pony is not recommended and if done at any Pony Club activity, is done so at the risk of the member/their parent/guardian. However, to stop any risk or injury, necklaces and bracelets (ither than medical) must be removed, as must larger and more pendulous pieces of jewellery (including those attached to piercings) which create a risk of injury to the body part through which they are secured.

7.       Hair must be tied up and back (preferably in a hair net) securely, in a safe manner to reduce the risk of hair being caught and to prevent scalp injuries.

8.       No stallions may compete without permission of the Jersy Drag Hunt District Commissioner

9.       At the competition, horses/ponies may only be ridden by the rider who is competing at the competition

10.   No lunging is permitted

11.   All classes will be held on a grass surface

12.   By entering you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. Failure to do so will result in elimination

13.   We will not take late entries at the show unless it is to enter an additional class. Late entries will be accepted on the day at a cost of £3.00 per class above the class fee

14.   Entries to be made via MyRidingLife by Friday 5th June 2026:

15.   Pony Club reserves the right to refuse entry, limit entries, amalgamate, amend, cancel or close classes as necessary.

16.   Lead rein competitors must stay on lead rein at all times when mounted and must be led by a responsible person who is suitably dressed.

17.   Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

18.   Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

19.   No Smoking or vaping is allowed at the venue

20.   Please clear all litter, droppings and hay.

21.   The parking area for horse boxes/trailers will be very busy during the period of the show.  Please ensure that you park sensibly. Motorbikes, mopeds or bicycles may not be ridden on the show ground.

NON-MEMBERS All non-Pony Club competitors are not covered by The Pony Club insurance and must have their own third-party cover. The Jersey Drag Hunt Branch of The Pony Club and the organisers of this event are not legally responsible for non-Members and their insurance will not cover you.  Please provide evidence of your third-party cover. 

LEGAL LIABILITY Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event or The Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories or any other personal property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.
