Ring 1 - Ridden

All classes may be split if entries warrant

 Class 1 Ridden Cob Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFIER)

 

Open Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Exceeding 148cms. To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the date of the show. Spurs may be worn by adult riders.

 

 

Class 2 Ridden Veteran Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFIER)

 

                    Open to horses and ponies of any breed, type and height, 15 years and over. Riders of any age, suitably mounted – animals will not be                  . Spurs not to be worn. Blemishes are not taken into consideration.

 

 

Class 3 Ridden Hunter Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFIER)

 

Open Ridden Hunter, mare or gelding. 4 years old and over. Exceeding 148cms. Rider must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the show. Spurs may be worn by adult riders.

 

 

Class 4   Coloured Horse/Pony Ridden Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFIER)

 

Ponies: Open Ridden Piebald/Skewbald, stallions, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs must NOT be worn. Ponies under 153cm.

Horses: Open Ridden Piebald/Skewbald, stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs may be worn by adult riders. Animals 153cms and over.

 

 

Class 5   Mountain and Moorland Small Breeds Ridden Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFIER)

 

Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure-Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A and Welsh B. Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year and suitably mounted. Spurs must not be worn.

 

Class 6 Mountain and Moorland Large Breeds Ridden Amateur of the Year – (TSR QUALIFER)

 

Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with the respective Pure-Bred Societies of Fells, Dales, Highlands, New Forests, Connemara, Welsh C and Welsh D. Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs must not be worn.  

  

Ring 2 - Ridden

All classes may be split if entries warrant

 Class 7 Open Ridden Veteran –

 

                    Any height or breed. Horse or pony to be 15 years old and over. Age to be displayed on the bridle.

 

Class 8 Open Novice Junior and Senior –

 

Open to horses or ponies who are just starting out in their showing career or with limited experience under saddle. Horse or pony must not have placed 1st place in a similar class before January 1st of current year. Open to stallions, geldings or mares. Any breed or height. Lead rein permitted. Class may be split juniors and seniors.

 

Class 9 Open Ridden Hunter or Hunting Type

 

Open to light weight, medium weight and heavy weight hunters. Judged on suitability of the discipline. Stallion, mare or gelding.

 

Class 10 Open Ridden Foreign Breeds –

 

                    Open to all foreign breeds including Arabs and their part breeds. Any height. Stallion, mare or gelding

 

Class 11 Open ROR/ X Racehorse Ridden -

 

Stallion, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Horse must have at least trained to race or have raced flat, over jumps or point to point. To be judged on the sustainability to compete in all disciplines.

 

Class 12 Open Lead Rein –

 

Riders not to have attained their 8th birthday by the 1st January of the current year. Handlers must be age 14 years and over. Equine must be in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the nose band. Ponies to be 4 years old and over.

 

Class 13 Ridden Concours d’Elegance – QUALIFIER

 

                    Ridden Concours d’Elegance. Walk and trot in the ‘go around’ on both reins. Canter may be shown in individual show.  

1st, 2nd and 3rd placed horse/ponies not already qualified in eligible classes will qualify for the Championship to be held at Onley Equestrian 25th – 26th September. If horse/ pony has already qualified, cards may be handed down to 6th place at judge’s discretion. Qualified horses will be given a qualification card in the ring.

 

Class 14  Riding Club Horse/ Pony Club Pony

 

For all riding club horses who take part in Riding Club events or ponies who compete in Pony Club. Horses/ponies will be judged on compatibility with either riding club or pony club events.

                     

 

 

1st & 2nd from classes 1 – 14 will qualify for ridden championship. Championship will take place once Ring 1 and 2 have completed

 

Ring 1 – In Hand

All classes may be split if entries warrant. 

 

Start - not before 1:30 – Judge: Mr M Maidment

 

Class 15 Youngstock 1/2/3-year-old –

 

                    Filly, Colt, Gelding. Any height or breed.

 

Class 16 In Hand Hunter or Hunting Type  

 

                    Any age. Stallion, Colt, Gelding, Filly or Mare. Handlers of any age.

 

Class 17 In Hand X Racehorse/ROR -

                   

Stallion, mare or gelding. 4 years old and over. Horses to have at least trained to race or have raced flat, over jumps or point to point. To be judged on the sustainability to compete in all disciplines.

 

Class 18 In Hand Coloured Horse or Pony –

 

                    Any age, any height. To include piebald, skewbald, appaloosa, spotted, palomino and dun. Classes may be split if entries warrant.

 

Class 19 Young Handler –

 

                    Mare or gelding. NO COLTS OR STALLIONS. Handler not to have attained their 18th birthday by the 1st January of the current year.

                   

 

 

 

 

Ring 2 – In Hand

All classes may be split if entries warrant.

Class 20 In hand Concours d’Elegance - QUALIFIER

 

                    In hand Concours d’Elegance. Walk and short trot from front to back of the group. 

1st, 2nd and 3rd placed horse/ponies not already qualified in eligible classes will qualify for the Championship to be held at Onley Equestrian 25th – 26th September.                     Stallion, mare, filly, gelding or colt. Any height. Handlers any age. To include traditional, show and native cob.

 

Class 22 In Hand Mountain and Moorland –

 

                    Stallion, mare, filly, colt or gelding. Handlers any age. Ponies to be registered to the respective Pure Bred Society Stud Book. Small and Large breeds. Class may be split small and large depending on entries.

 

Class 23 In Hand Veteran Horse/ Pony -

 

                    Any height or breed. Horse or Pony to be 15 years old or over. Age to be displayed. Handlers any age

 

Class 24 In Hand Heavy Horse -

 

                    Open to all heavy horse breed. Horses any age. Handlers any age.

 

 

 

 

1st & 2nd from classes 15 – 24 will qualify for in hand championship. Championship will take place once Ring 1 and 2 have completed.

Prize Information

Rosettes 1st - 6th in all classes.  Sash and special rosette to Champions plus prize money and special rosette to Reserve Champions plus prize money. 

Special Classes

This show is affiliated to The Showing Register Amateur of the Year Final, taking place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on 28th & 29th November 2026.

 

The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class with qualify.

 

 

This show is affiliated to The Concours D’Elegance Society of GB to be held 24th & 25th September 2026 at Onley Equestrian Centre, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV23 8AJ.

 

Horses and Ponies placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in eligible classes, who have not yet qualified, will qualify for the Champion of Britain Title classes. Qualified horses/ponies will receive a qualification card in the ring, allowing the owner to enter the Championship Show. Owners and riders/handlers must be, or become, registered with The Concours d’Elegance Society within 21days of the qualifying show. No horse registration is required. Withdrawals/Refunds

Entry fees cannot be returned after the closing date of entries.  In the event of cancellation 25% of the entry fee will be retained to cover administration costs. Refunds will only be given under certain circumstances and a vets note will be required.

Terms & Conditions

 

Rules & Conditions of Entry

1. This event will run under current riding club rules and TSR rules.

2. The committee reserve the right to refuse entry or disqualify any animal that is deemed unfit to compete

3. The committee & land owners will not be responsible for any injuries arising from accidents to persons or animals, or theft of properties on the ground during the event.

4. The judges decision is final, the committee reserves the right to alter or vary the schedule or to decline entry.

5. Hard Hats are always compulsory when mounted & for safety should comply with current standards.

6. All horses & ponies must be at least 4 years old & over to compete in ridden classes.

7. STALLIONS – any pony stallions not exceeding 138cm may NOT be ridden by anyone under the age of 12, stallions exceeding 138cm may NOT be ridden by anyone under the age of 14.

8. All foals being shown must be a minimum of 3 weeks old on the day of the show & mares with foals at foot must have obtained their fourth birthday.

9. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Failure to do so will result in you being asked to leave the showground. All dogs foul must be picked up.

10. STRICTLY WALK ONLY in car park or to the ring as you will be asked to leave the showground with no refunds.

11. Strictly no parking of horseboxes/trailers in non-designated car park.

12. Objections must be handed to the Secretary IN WRITING within 15 minutes of the end of the class, together with a deposit of £10. Objections will be dealt with at the end of the day. In the event of a complaint, a height certificate may be required to be produced.

13. In the event of cancellation, entry fees will be refunded. This runs alongside the conditions if the entire show is cancelled.

14. Refunds will only be issued on production of a vet’s/doctor’s certificate.

15. FFRC have a zero tolerance for bullying, foul language and harassment towards judges, committee, volunteers and other competitors. Any one seen or heard doing the above with be asked to leave the show ground immediately and this may result if a ban from all future FFRC events.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

1. The committee has taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the health, safety & welfare of those attending the show. Members of the public & competitors are equally responsible for ensuring they do not put others at risk & that they cooperate with the organisers in compliance with Health & Safety Legislation.

2. In the interest of safety please ensure that Horses, Trailers, Lorries & all tack are left secure when unattended.

3. The onus is on every rider who suffers a fall or anyone who suffers an injury whilst in the showground to report the fall/injury to the show secretary and be checked over by the First Aid officer.

4. Traders associated with & the permission of FFRC & CCR ONLY to be welcome on the show ground.
