Come and ride around our hay fields and practice cross country schooling over our new 45cms and 60 cms purpose built cross country fences. Three more fields will be open from June that include two water jumps, banks and logs around private fields totalling 45 acres.
You will be riding on old turf, specifically set aside for making meadow hay with super going. Enjoy working on your horses fitness off road -even if you do not wish to jump and wish to prepare your horses fitness for an event or for riding in safety off the roads.

Bookings in advance. To enter: A: You can enter using our Secure Online Entry System. Payment is secure and it goes directly to Swallowfield Equestrian. You will receive an email confirmation of your entry and payment.
£15pp (1 Additional Rider/ Horse £10 extra)
STRICTLY NON REFUNDABLE. No refunds will be given for arena hire. If you wish to transfer your booking to another time, the venue require 24 hours notice confirmed in writing via email
1. HAT STANDARDS - HATS must be worn whenever mounted and conform to; the most current standard as per the BE, BHS and British Riding Clubs Rulebook. ONLY Jockey skull hats without a peak may be worn for cross country. Hat silks may be worn with flexible peak. The use of HEAD CAMS are strictly prohibited. This includes use on the head, chest, bridle or any other part of the horse or rider.
2. BODY PROTECTORS A body protector with a Blue 2018 BETA Level 3 label is obligatory for all cross-country events and is also strongly recommended for all show jumping events. Please make sure your body protector is fitted and worn as per the manufacturer’s instructions. If a rider chooses to wear an airbag style body protector it must be worn over a permitted body protector. Hybrid Air jackets and Helite Air Jackets are permitted. It is recommended that body protectors are replaced once they are more than 5 years old. Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the secretary at all events.
3. CORRECT dress and footwear with defined heels must be worn. Long hair must be suitably tied up above the shoulder.
4. ALL horses and ponies must be five years old and over. ALL Riders to be 8 years old and over.
5. WHIPS One whip is permitted for cross country..
6. PADDED BATON One whip is permitted for cross-country and MUST be between 45cm and 75cm and must not be weighted or with a hard point at the end. The end of the whip must be padded. The 'pad' must be smooth with no protrusion or raised surface (which includes embroidery) and be made of a shock absorbing material throughout its circumference.
7. ENTRIES accepted at rider’s risk. Swallowfield Equestrian reserve the right to refuse an entry at their discretion and cancel the event in adverse weather.
8. INSURANCE Each competitor must carry their own liability insurance whether Riding Club, Pony Club, BHS, BS, BD, BE or independent cover.
9. HEALTH & SAFETY The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards. Those attending this event must report any accidents to the secretary or organiser of the event. Please do not leave unattended horses tied to lorries and no hay nets to be tied to the outside of lorries or trailers. No dogs on the cross country fields. .
10. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY save for the death or injury caused by the negligence of the organisers of the event, no liability is accepted for any accident, loss or damage, injury or illness to horses, ponies, owners, riders, spectators, vehicles their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever. Swallowfield Equestrian RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO ANYONE NOT ABIDING BY THESE RULES
11. It is mandatory that everyone riding brings another person on the ground with them and must be over 18 with them with a full driving licence.
12. If a horse or rider falls, the rider must not remount and will therefore will not be permitted to continue.
13. No entrant shall be entitled to the return of any entry fee after closing date other than on production of the appropriate Veterinary or Medical Certificate and at the organisers’ discretion.
14. PHOTOGRAPHIC RIGHTS – Competitors (and their parents/guardians if under 18yo) and or attendees/spectators/volunteers have given permission for any photographic and/or film or video footage taken of persons or horses/ponies taking part in this event to be used and published in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of the organiser of the event, the venue,
