Show Information

Class running order will be determined by entry levels in each class.
Entries will close when full and thereafter a wait list will be held.
Entries may be accepted after the closing date of entries subject to space and a £15 late entry surcharge.
For Pony Club all entries need to have been approved by your Branch DC or Centre Proprietor. Area Teams will be organised by the Area Reps. For eligibility please refer to the 2026 Eventing Rule Book.
Any requests for Reasonable Adjustment must be made through the Area Reps: Lena Pearson-Wood: area11@pcuk.org and Andrea Hurley: area13@pcuk.org by the closing date of entries.

Number Bibs
These are not provided. A4 paper inserts must be printed at home ahead of the competition. These can be downloaded from; https://www.eventingscores.co.uk/ once times are out.

Dressage Sheets
Will be available for collection on event, they can be posted after the event but this will incur a cost of £2.50 to be paid on the day.

Vaccinations:
All horses/ponies should have received a vaccination within 12 months of the date of the competition having already received their initial course of injections. There must be six clear days between the last vaccination and the date of the competition. Random checks will be taking place.

Body Protectors:
Note these are compulsory for the Cross Country phase and strongly recommended for Show Jumping. Body Protectors should be worn under an air jacket if a competitor chooses to wear one. All competitors must wear a body protector meeting the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) 2018 Level 3 standard (blue and black label). A body protector of this nature is also required when competitors are wearing air jackets of any make. From 1 January 2024 body protectors meeting the BETA 2009 standard will no longer be permitted for use. The BETA 2018 label will be the only accepted standard.

SPURS:
Pony Club members wishing to wear spurs must have the yellow spurs tag on their riding hats.

Payment Details & Event Fees

Entries in advance only: online entries preferred. No telephone entries accepted. You can enter using our Secure Online Entry System.
Payment is secure and it goes directly to BEDE Events Ltd.
You will receive an email confirmation of your class entry and payment.

Stabling Information: Yes

Local stabling is available from £35 per night. Please check our website for our list of offsite providers or by emailing info@bedeltd.co.uk

Prize Information

Cotswold Cup: Rosettes to 8th place in each section. Prizes in kind for Junior classes which must be collected from the event by the competitor or a representative. Prize money for Senior classes, paid by BACs transfer within 3 weeks of the last day of competition by flling in the online prize claim form before Friday 7th August. Please see the BEDE Events website for the on line form. Pony Club: rosettes to 10th place in each section. Rosettes for teams: 1st -6th (Pony Club) All results will be available on Eventing Scores and Pony Club Results on the day. Prize giving will be in the marquee and prize winners must be correctly dressed.

Hot and cold refreshments available throughout the event.

Withdrawals/Refunds

Withdrawals for whatever reason prior to the closing date (noon 30th June 2026) will receive a full refund minus a £12 administration fee. Withdrawals for whatever reason after the closing date (noon 30th June 2026) and before 12 noon on 17th July 2026 will receive a full refund minus a £12 administration fee ONLY if the entry can be replaced. Any withdrawal after the 17th July 2026 will not be refunded unless we are able to replace the entry from the wait list. By this point we have allocated times for the event. Pony Club Classes: After the closing date substitutions may only be made as per P.C. Eventing Rules 2026. Any changes after the closing date need to go through the DC who will advise the Entry Secretary by email. For ALL changes of horse and rider substitutions after the closing date (31st August) there is a £12 charge. A change of horse and rider would constitute a new entry. Details of how to pay will be advised. All entries are subject to a non-refundable booking fee as stated online.

Terms & Conditions

1. The horse trials will be run mainly in conjunction with National Eventing rules, with the addition of rules detailed on The Cotswold Cup website https://cotswoldcup.co.uk/rules/
2. Hard hats to BE/PC/RC specifcations must be worn at all times when mounted. ALL hats must have an UpToDate tag.
3. Body protectors to current BE/PC/RC standards are recommended in all phases but are compulsory for the cross-country phase. Air Jackets may be worn but must be worn over a body protector.
4. It is compulsory that every person entering Brightling who is under the age of 18 years of age is accompanied by a responsible adult.
5. Event stopwatches are allowed.
6. It is compulsory that all dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
7. Horseboxes are not to be mucked out on site.
8. The Management of Brightling Park & BEDE Events Ltd reserves the right to remove anyone from the event at any time without giving a reason.
9. A paramedic team will be in attendance at the event.
10. A vet and a farrier will either be present or on call.
11. The event may be cancelled without notice due to adverse weather. In the event of adverse weather, it is recommended that you check social media and the website www.bedeevents.co.uk before you depart.
12. All horses/ponies must be 4 years and over. For Pony Club Classes no horse under 5 years of age is eligible.
13. No horse/pony may compete in more than one class.
14. Substitutions Substituting a horse and rider combination in its entirety constitutes a new entry and a full entry fee must be paid plus a £5 administration fee. If substituting horse OR rider a £5 administration fee will be payable.
15. Cancellation If the event is cancelled before 30th June entry fees will be refunded, minus a £12 admin fee per entry after the 1st July a £30.00 admin fee will be deducted.
16. Any queries or complaints must be in writing and handed to the Organiser within 30 minutes of the incident together with a fee of £20, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld. For PC Classes: On the day only DCs/Centre Proprietors or their appointed representatives are entitled to lodge a protest or objection. Protests/objections will be managed as per Eventing Rule book 2026
17. Withdrawals during the event MUST be registered with the on-site secretary.
18. In the event of any rider travelling to a show on their own, details of a contact should be left with the secretary in case of an accident.
19. Any person who fails to comply with these terms & conditions will be liable to forfeit their fees & expulsion from showground.
20. There will be a non-refundable booking fee taken at point of entry.
21. Medical Armbands – It is the competitor’s responsibility to wear a medical armband during the cross-country phase if they have a medical condition that may impact on their care in the case of an emergency.

Health and Safety
The Organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone attending this event. For these measures to be effective everyone present must themselves take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents. Instructions given by any Official must be obeyed. Any animal not under control or in any way constituting a danger may be asked to leave the showground. Owners enter their horses/ponies at their own risk, and it is a condition of entry that no liability of any kind attaches itself to Brightling Horse Trials or BEDE Events Ltd. Personal Injury and Equipment Insurance Notice
Brightling Horse Trials or BEDE Events does not insure the rider, your horse or your tack and equipment. You are strongly advised to have in place your own adequate personal accident insurance at all times. The Venue, BEDE Events or anyone involved in the organisation of the event will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss to any person or their property however this may be caused.
