Summer Online Training Competition Show Series

To be held

May, June, July, August, September 2026

OPEN TO ALL ASSOCIATE AND FULL SSA MEMBERS

SEPARATE SECTIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR:

1) RIDING SCHOOL (RS)

2) NON-RIDING SCHOOL (NRS) COMPETITORS

Entries open the 1st of the month and close at midnight on the last day of the month.

Video entries to be uploaded to YouTube and the links provided when requested under "Additional Information" when submitting your entry through MyRidingLife. At the start of each video please state the rider’s name, horse/pony’s name, class and month being entered. E.g. “Jane Doe riding Dobbin in Class 1 for July”.

This is an online competition series designed for riders to improve their personal best, where help and advice will be given in the feedback. Habits need not be worn in Class 1, 2 and 3RS but smart competition dress code should be used where habits are not worn. We strongly advise that Novice riders wear a safety hat up to current safety standards or above. Horses/ponies may be shared.

Rosettes to 6th place in each class-section, after which specials will be awarded. Rosettes will be posted with feedback, so please be sure to fill in your address and all contact details when prompted. An additional postage charge of £3 should be added to entries from overseas.

All competitors (RS)/combinations of horse/rider (NRS) taking part in the series will be eligible for the Overall Points Championships (Points gained from placings in each class). If riders (RS)/combinations (NRS) submit more than one entry in any class, then points will be gained from the highest placing only.  A Sash to the Champion and Reserve in each section (RS & NRS).

Class 1 The Novice Freestyle Walk and Trot Equitation Class. Entry Fee £15

RS & NRS

No canter required, but competitors are expected to show walk and trot on both reins. Designed for new and less experienced members. Habits need not be worn. Display no longer than 3 minutes. Competitors must not have been placed in any affiliated SSA Open Equitation class.

Class 2 The Open Freestyle Walk, Trot and Canter Equitation Class. Entry Fee £15

RS & NRS

Competitors are expected to show walk, trot and canter on both reins. Habits need not be worn. Display no longer than 3 minutes.

Classes 1 and 2 will be judged on a basic mark sheet to include marks for the walk, trot (and canter in Class 2) straightness of rider, harmony and effectiveness of aids.

Class 3 Best Turned Out. Entry Fee £15

RS

No individual show is required, but a 360-degree video of horse/pony and rider should be provided. Habits need not be worn. Suggested clothing: shirt, tie, jacket, breeches and boots. Judged on cleanliness of horse and tidiness of rider.

NRS

No individual show is required, but a 360-degree video of horse/pony and rider should be provided. Full habit to be worn. Judged in accordance with the current SSA Handbook.

Class 4 Side Saddle Costume. Entry Fee £15

RS & NRS

Wear your costume and ride through your individual show. The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony. Safe tack must be used. Fancy dress is not permitted. A short show with walk and trot on both reins is required in which canter is optional. After your final salute please film a closer picture of your costume whilst briefly describing the inspiration for your costume. Participants will be sent valuable feedback regarding their individual show, ‘way of going’ and costume advice.
