The Combined Challenge will test the ability and timing of a horse and rider to negotiate a show jumping course followed by an arena cross-country course – this competition will all be run in a grass arena. Competitors will start inside of a start box (simple enclosure with an open front marked with a red and white flag), the judge will sound the bell, and competitors will commence onto the course from the start box and through the timing equipment. The show jumping course will consist of a minimum of 6 show jumps, including at least one double and include a proportion with fillers (brushes, walls, etc.). Black flag alternatives may be used. Offset doubles maybe used. The cross-country course will consist of a minimum of 6 jumping efforts.
Eligibility for all classes can be found in the current BRC Handbook (page 72). Horses may only compete at two consecutive heights. Horses may only compete twice. Horses may compete in teams at each height or as an individual. No horse may compete twice in the same team or in more than one team in the same class. No horse may compete in the same class twice.
Where a senior and junior are sharing a horse, the horse may only compete twice in total throughout the competition and must be at the same height or consecutive heights. For example, a senior could compete in the Senior 80 CC as part of a team or individually, and the junior could compete in the Junior 80 CC as part of a team or individual.
This competition will run under BRC Rules, anyone in attendance will be bound by the BRC Code of Conduct.
