Show Information

Due to the recent increase in confirmed strangles and equine influenza cases reported across the UK and Norfolk in particular, we are temporarily strengthening our biosecurity procedures to protect the horses on site. National surveillance data has shown a significant rise in strangles cases since 2023, prompting renewed calls for stricter disease‑prevention measures across the equine industry.  Please note that from today, and until further notice, all external facility users will have zero access to the yard.

This includes:

  • The path behind the outdoor arena
  • The indoor viewing gallery
  • The indoor barn loos

Please note the following health and biosecurity reminders:

  • HORSES MUST BE VACCINATED AGAINST EQUINE INFLUENZA TO ATTEND OUR VENUE. PASSPORTS WILL BE CHECKED.
  • Please only attend if your horses are healthy and showing no signs of illness. Early recognition and isolation of potentially infected horses are key measures recommended nationally to reduce transmission risk.
  • Horses should only access the indoor school during their allocated slots.
  • Acsess and exit to the indoor school is via the slip rails track along the outdoor school NOT via the outdoor school itself.
  • Only 30% to 40% of the UK equine population are vaccinated against equine influenza despite being highly effectie and reducing the severity of the disease by 70% to 90%.
  • A strangles vaccine is available, and vaccination is highlighted as an important tool to reduce both infection risk and onward spread when used alongside good hygiene and biosecurity practices.
  • Absolutely no grazing is permitted anywhere on site, including the car park.
  • A foot‑dip station will be in place at the arena access points, and its use is mandatory for all visitors.
