Rules:
This competition is run under current British Riding Clubs rules unless superseded by the rules below. The current BRC Handbook and Rule Amendments document can be found on: https://www.bhs.org.uk/british-riding-clubs/brchandbook/
Entries:
1. For Winter qualifiers and onwards, BRC has introduced a ‘competition pass’ this will take the place of Pre-Entries. To compete and qualify for BRC championships, all entrants must have a valid club membership AND a valid competition pass, which can be purchased via the BRC Sport80 portal. Any member competing at a qualifier without both club membership and a competition pass will be disqualified.
2. At all Area 2 competitions BRC members can enter as a non-qualifier which does not require a competitor pass.
3. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria; the eligibility table can be found here: https://www.bhs.org.uk/british-riding-clubs/brchandbook/
Tack & Turnout:
1. All riding hats must have a visible current BRC/BE/PC pink hat tag
2. For any event with cross country riders must NOT have a fixed peak on their hat.
3. A body protector to current 2018 standard is mandatory for XC competition.
4. Riders wearing Exo-Body cages, in which the BETA Level 3 2009 Purple Label, must inform the official steward/organiser before the event.
5. Saddle pads are not allowed; Saddles must have cantle and pommel.
Flu Vaccinations & Microchips
Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations in line with rule G7 in the current BRC Handbook.
Please take time to check your eligibility as the rules changed in 2024.

Passports must be presented to the secretary for checking at each competition prior to competing.
NO HORSE MAY COMPETE IN ANY BRC COMPETITIONS WITHIN 6 DAYS OF THE INJECTION.
No injection should have been given on any of the 6 days before the competition and/or entry to competition stables. For example: if the horse is vaccinated on the Monday, the horse will not be eligible to enter championship stables, or compete until the following Monday. Horses may compete providing that they have had the first two primary injections providing the second vaccination is within 6 calendar months and 21 days (but not in any of the 6 preceding days) of entry to the competition or competition stabling. In the event of failure to comply with any of the requirements of this rule, the horse or pony will be disqualified and not permitted to take part in any competition to which these rules apply. Any alterations to any entries on the vaccination record must have been made, signed and stamped by a veterinary surgeon.
COMPETITORS CONDUCT AT COMPETITIONS
As a competitor you need to be aware of your responsibilities.
• Be courteous to all stewards and helpers, they like you are Riding Club members who have given up their time so you can compete.
• It is your responsibility to know the rules of the competition, riding club rules do vary from other disciplines, all rules can be viewed on the British Riding Club website. www.britishridingclubs.co.uk and also the rule book can be downloaded from this site.
• The owners of each venue have spent time preparing the premises for us to use, so please respect any of their wishes regarding the use of the venue.
• You are responsible for making sure that your vaccinations for your horse/pony are up to date.
• Anyone who is verbally abusive to any other rider, steward or helper, will be asked to leave and their score will be withdrawn from the competition.
• Facebook aggression will not be tolerated.
• When you have finished your part in the competition, please bear in mind that scorers and officials do their best to get the score out as quickly as possible, and any offer of help from yourselves would be gratefully received, e.g. in delivering drinks, collecting score sheets.
• The delivery of scores and the actual results will be put on line www.ridingclubresults.co.uk if you have to leave the competition grounds, please arrange for your team manager to pick up your score sheets and rosettes if any.
