RESTRICTED CLASS – DRIVERS MUST BE MEMBERS OF THE BRITISH DRIVING SOCIETY TO COMPETE IN THIS CLASS. DRIVERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A GROOM OVER THE AGE OF 18.
Open to traditional type driving vehicles or an exercise vehicle. To be judged in the following manner: The driver need not be the same competitor as the rider, but the horse or pony must remain the same in both sections.
A. Ridden Section: Walk, trot and canter on one rein, then change the rein and canter only on the other rein. Riders must give a ridden show which includes a canter on both reins, with an extended canter and a rein back.
Conformation judging will be included but riders will stay mounted for the conformation judging.
The judge is looking for a horse/pony that is going quietly but with good impulsion in the correct pace and in a balanced manner on the bit.
The judge will place every horse/pony within the class and award points as follows: 1st – 1 point; 2nd 2 points; 3rd – 3 points etc
B. Driven Section: Competitors will be judged as for a private Driving class. The judge will place every horse/pony in the class with the same placing/points awards as in Section A.
Points will be added together from Sections A and B and the winner will be the competitor with the lowest combined total. In the event of equality of final points – the highest placed competitor in the Driving section will be declared the winner.

Open to horses and ponies, 4 years old or over. A single, pair or tandem driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle.
A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle my be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic vehicle tyres, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible with judges focusing on safety, correctness and suitability for safe road driving.
The class may be split into height sections i.e. under / over 14.2hh, or two wheel and four-wheel vehicles if class entries permit.
Private Driving Classes are judged on turnout cleanliness, safety, harness fit, and vehicle suitability, with a strong emphasis on the driver’s skill and the horse’s way of going.

Tattersalls RoR Open In-Hand Show Series Qualifier

OPEN TO ALL ROR AND NR COMPETITION REGISTERED HORSES,
3yrs and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Handlers must be 15 years or over on the 1st of January 2025. Horses do not need to be shod to compete in the RoR Open In-Hand class. Horses can be shown in a bitless/In-Hand Bridle. Blemishes caused by racing will be ignored. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Handlers/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.

Tattersalls RoR Amateur Ridden Show Series Qualifier

OPEN TO ALL ROR AND NR COMPETITION REGISTERED HORSES
4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2026. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series.
The Series is open to AMATEUR* riders only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete.
Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration. The Judge will not ride in the qualifiers but will ride in the Final. Competitors/grooms must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.

The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition, a person classed as an amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as a brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season:
Engage(d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st, 2025. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

Membership: This Show is an Area Qualifier Class entries are open to members and non-members. VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each Area Qualifier class will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must carry their card in the ring at all times and have their showing card signed by the judge as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership, this MUST be done within 21 days of qualification. It is the competitors’ responsibility to present their Showing card to the judge. Regional Finals are open to members only. Qualification Detail: The VHS affiliated classes are Area Qualifiers categorised as Foundation Classes being held as two Combined Age classes for 1) VHS In Hand and 2) VHS Ridden Qualifiers. OPEN RIDERS (Non-Services Riders) – Open Section PSUK (Current Members of Police Sports Clubs) - Provide collar / staff number and police force Entry eligibility – PSUK section requires police riders to be a current member of their police force sports club/s – Entry eligibility checks will be undertaken. U.K. PROTECTIVE SERVICES / BLUE LIGHTS EMERGENCY SERVICES / ARMED FORCES - Provide collar / staff number and which Protective Service Represented. Entry Eligibility – All other Services (non-PSUK)
PSUK Riders must be current members of their respective force sports club. Any Police rider who is not a member of a police force sports club must not enter the PSUK section but may compete in the Blue Lights / U.K. Protective Services section subject to validation checks and BLHS approval.
POLICE & SERVICES RIDERS WHITE ARMBANDS should be worn by services riders who elect to wear traditional competition dress or showing attire.
UNIFORM DRESS Should only be worn by serving officers and staff whose service / force status permits the wearing of uniform. Retired officers or other Services employees whose services / force status does not permit the issue of uniform should compete in approved equestrian attire. Equestrian attire with PSUK logos is permitted to denote PSUK force sports club membership. Force Sports Clubs may also permit services riders to use force logos. Services riders not competing in uniform or competition jackets with PSUK / Force logos should wear a white armband to denote they are riding as a Services Section competitor. TEAM ENTRIES COMPETITOR NOTE: Team riders must first be entered as an individual in each of their chosen classes. When entering the TEAM entry – In entry notes - all rider / horse combinations in the TEAM entry MUST be named and the entry MUST state which class is to be scored as the TEAM entry score for each horse/rider combination. COURTEOUS CONDUCT & BEHAVIOUR Competitors must be courteous and respectful to all show goers, fellow competitors and show officials and must always abide by directions of show stewards and officials. Discourteous conduct may result in competitors being required to leave the show ground without being permitted to compete and forfeit remaining entries. Discourteous behaviour or other misconduct concerns may also be subject of separate referral report considerations to the individual’s force as deemed appropriate or necessary for services section competitors. INSURANCE / HEALTH & SAFETY All BLHS events will be managed and risk assessed by BLHS, in conjunction with associated show partners, organisations and the hosting venue. BLHS undertake to ensure the review and implementation of health and safety arrangements, risk management plans and appropriate venue event insurance. On an individual basis – all riders and rider connections attending BLHS – agree - as a condition of entry – to have relevant and adequate insurance provision in place to cover their ridden activities and rider insurance must include third-party liability. All competitors accept as a condition of entry they are attending BLHS to compete and ride at their own risk - recognising that equestrian sport can be a high-risk activity and equines can be unpredictable animals both to handle and to ride. SHOW CANCELLATION Additionally - where necessary – event planning may need to comply with other restrictive provisions and so may be subject to alterations or cancellations in part or full. Entry is taken as acceptance of any future revision or alteration of event information and scheduling previously published for any reason. If cancellation of BLHS in its entirety should be required for any reason – class entries may be transferred to an alternative show date or refunded as appropriate - at the sole discretion of the Hosting venue & BLHS - subject to an administration fee. ANNUAL FLU VACCINATION Equines are required to be within annual flu vaccination rules.
