Entry Closing Date and Payments

Entries for Unaffiliated Showjumping will close at 9 am on the day before the event.

Entries for unaffiliated dressage and combined training will close at 9 am two days before the event.  

BD events will be as per the schedule but we advise to enter early to avoid disappointment as spaces due to cancellations and late entries may not always be available.

Shows are Pre entry only and should be made via My Riding Life Only.  Please contact us direct laura@cherwellcompetition.co.uk for late entry availability.  Payments are secure via Paypal to Cherwell Competition Centre.  You will should receive a payment confirmation to your email address.

Entries will not be accepted – under any circumstances – without payment.

 

Start Times

Start times will be available before 12 noon the day before the event for showjumping and combined training.  For unaffiliated dressage times will be before 5 pm two days before the event.  

 

Withdrawals/Refunds

Entries are not eligible for refund unless you can produce a letter from your vet.  If there is any other reason for withdrawal then please contact us and we can consider a refund or transfer on a case by case basis.  Please note that situations such as lorries not starting will not be considered.  In the event of bad weather entries will automatically be transferred to a future event or arena hire space of your choosing.

 

Qualifier Details

All Unaffiliated Showjumping will be qualifiers for Cricklands, Trailblazers and Sunshine Tour if they are scheduled within the qualifying period.

All Combined Training and Unaffiliated Dressage will be qualifiers for Trailblazers if they are scheduled within the qualifying period.  For qualifying periods please refer to individual qualifier websites and familiarise yourself with the qualifying criteria.

 

Prize Money

Prize money will be paid by BACS and you need to provide us with bank details for payment.  We will hold your details on our system unless you tell us otherwise and this is where any future prize money will be paid unless we are notified otherwise.  We cannot be held responsible for prize money being transferred to closed accounts if those details have been given to us.  

For each showjumping class one set of prize money will be awarded from 1st to 3rd over both horse and pony sections if there are less than 30 entries.  Rosettes will be given from 1 – 6 in both section regardless of entry numbers.  If the number of entries reach 30 or more in a class then there will be prize money from 1st to 3rd place in both horse and pony sections.  Placings will be decided on penalty points followed by fastest time in the jump off section.

Prize money will be awarded in each class to every five entries overall or every five entries in each section if split.  5 entries – 1st prize, 10 entries – 2nd prize, 15 entries – 3rdprize.

The rule relating to prize money only will also apply to Combined Training and placings will be decided using the usual Combined Training rules and scoring system.

Course and Warm up

All courses are built on horse distances and there will be a course walk for each class.  The course remains the same throughout the day.

For 40 and 50 cm competitors will be allowed help in the arena and this includes use of lead rein.

Competitors should make sure that they warm up in the designated area and be aware of collecting ring etiquette.

Classes will be run based on British Showjumping rules but we do allow 3 refusals. 

We do not operate the BS tack rules but we ask that all whips comply with their guidelines.

For combined training competitors MUST jump within 30 minutes of their listed dressage time and we ask that you tell us if you do not intend on taking part in the jumping phase.

 

Dress

Dress for the unaffiliated events will be competition wear those taking part in clear round do not need to wear a riding jacket or pale breeches. 

 

British Dressage

Please refer to the BD rule book for anything related to British Dressage events held at Cherwell Competition Centre.

 

General

If you are competing at Cherwell Competition Centre and have travelled alone, you must notify the ring steward and leave contact details in case of an emergency.

Please do not try and force any electric gates.  If you are seen to be pushing or forcing any gates or equipment then we reserve the right to charge for repairs.  

All horses competing at Cherwell in ridden classes must be 4 years and above.  

Children must not be left on the premises, including the clubhouse, unattended! 

Horses and Ponies must not under any circumstances be left tied up to the lorry / trailer.

To assist us keeping our car park tidy please pick up any droppings and do not muck out lorries into our car park or hedge line.   For litter please use the bins located on the premises in various locations.

Please be courteous towards our staff at all times.  If you do not observe this rule then you will be asked to leave the centre and may not be given entries or access to future events.

Please drive at a sensible speed both into and out of the venue and close all gates behind you when requested.

The expense of any veterinary services rendered either on or after the Show must be borne by the competitor or owner of stock. 

Cherwell Competition Centre accept no responsibility for the loss or damage to persons or their property whilst on our premises. 

It is recommended that all items of value be locked away at all times. 

 

Clubhouse Café

Our Clubhouse for snacks and drinks on show days.  We ask that any food that is not purchased from there is not consumed on the premises or clubhouse garden.  If you do have your own lunch and snacks then please consume these at your lorries.  We do not allow picnics on the viewing bank.

 

On site Stables and Hook up

Day stables are available for hire at £15 with a £15 clean stable deposit. Please speak with us before the event or to the collecting ring steward on the day.  If we find that hook up or stables are being used without prior arrangement we reserve the right to charge £30.00 each one of these benefits.

Stables must be left swept and left clean and tidy.
