Riders may be led or assisted. Classes are judged on rider position and style only over a simple course of fences. There is a very generous maximum time only. There will be an additional prize for the most stylish rider who jumps clear in this class. ANY RIDER who has competed in ANY 70cm class (or higher) on ANY pony at ANY competition (not just NSEA) is NOT eligible for this class

Riders may be assisted but not led. Optimum time. The winner will be the horse/rider combination who have the fewest jumping penalties and are closest to the optimum time. There will be an additional prize for the most stylish rider who jumps clear in this class. Any rider who has competed in any 80cm class (or higher) on any pony in any competition (not just NSEA) is immediately ineligible for Grass Roots 40 & 50 cm classes. Any horse/rider combination who has qualified for any other NSEA Championships (other than Grass Roots) may not compete in this class.

Terms & Conditions

RULES - Current NSEA, British Showjumping AND THE FOLLOWING TO APPLY

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY - All persons attending the event must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey instructions given by the Organiser or by officials and stewards on its behalf.  All competitors and those associated with their school are the responsibility of the Team Manager whilst at the competition.  All enquiries are to be made by the Team Manager please.  The organisers will not be liable for any claims in respect of damage, loss or injury to any person, whether spectator or competitor, horse or property however caused, in connection with or arising out of the competition.  All persons attending the event must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey instructions given by the Organiser or by officials and stewards on its behalf.

 

SCORING - Teams to be made up of 3 or 4 from the same school, with the best three scores to count (all team members will automatically count as individuals).    

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY - The judge’s decision is final. Entry fees cannot be refunded without a Vet or Doctor’s certificate.  In any event, £5 will be retained to cover administration costs. No entry will be accepted without the correct fee and entry forms for all competitors.

 

MEDICS - will be in attendance.

 

TV & PHOTOGRAPHY - Please note that professional photographers will be present at NSEA competitions. There may also be TV cameras at the Championships.  Please indicate on the entry form if you do not wish to appear in press coverage/ TV or photos taken by our official photographers

REFRESHMENTS - will be available from onsite indoor cafe

 

GENERAL – Please ensure that you do not muck out your horsebox onto the lorry park. Take all your litter home with you.  All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Any dog mess must be cleared up.  Outside assistance will not be tolerated (in non-assisted classes) and could result in elimination.  NSEA affiliated competitors only may warm up & compete horses on the show ground.  All competitions, parents and representatives from every school must ensure that they act courteously to stewards and officials at all times. Most of them are volunteers and rudeness is not acceptable.

·        Evengts will run under BS and NSEA Rules  Classes will be run as a BS Single Phase Competition (course in two parts with second part timed.  Competitors to jump both parts unless eliminated.  Faults to be accumulated.  

·        A horse/rider combination may compete in 2 teams at the same competition, providing that they are at 2 consecutive heights.

·        A horse/rider combination cannot compete where the starting height is 30cm lower than previously competed in any competition

·        No horse may compete in more than 2 classes or be ridden more than once in each class.

·        The scores of all team competitors obtained whilst riding as a team member will automatically count as their individual score when determining individual placings.

·        Competitors are responsible for being ready to compete when called.  Please declare at your class at least 10 minutes before your start time.  Start times are approximate and classes may run ahead or behind time,  it is the responsibility of the competitor and their representative to ensure you do not miss your allocated drawn order

·        Age of competitors as at 1st January of the current year.

·        Teams must consist of at least 3 different combinations.  A rider may only compete once in each team (with the exception of Grass Roots)

·        All riders must be in full time education at the school or college they represent on the date of competition.

·        Stallions may only compete in school competitions with prior permission from the competition organiser.  This must be sought before the entry closure date and must wear a stallion disc.

·        Only the Team Manager of each school is to deal with the secretary for declarations, enquiries, objections etc.

·        Objections must be made in writing to the Show Secretary within 5 minutes of the conclusion of the relevant class with a £50 deposit.  Video or photographic evidence is not admissible.

·        It is the responsibility of the competitor or representative to declare their competitors to the steward at the venue and to provide the bridle numbers. 

·        All riders in a team must be from the same school/provision

 

The organisers reserve the right to eliminate any competitor whose riding helmet is not fastened when mounted.  Riding helmets must meet the current NSEA/BS standards.  Hair nets are compulsory wear and body protectors are recommended.  The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards.  Any damages must be paid for.   Vehicles, boxes and trailers and are parked entirely at the owner’s risk.

 

Anyone entering this competition will be deemed to have agreed to abide by the rules in this schedule and NSEA rules.  All schools provide their own arena party when their pupils are competing.  The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event, in which case entry fees will be refunded (less £5 per competitor).  In the event of adverse weather conditions, the competition will be rescheduled.  Competitors will only be able to walk the course at the beginning of each class or during specified times.

By entering this Show, competitors and helpers agree to comply with all Bury Farm guidelines which have been set up at the centre for the health and well-being

 Our agreed onsite partner SBM Photographic will provide a photographic service at selected Bury Farm shows, complying with GDPR guidelines. Some large Bury Farm events are live streamed by H&C TV and by Clip My Horse TV  under the guidance of equine media services policies.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES

All horses must be travelled with passports which can demonstrate that all vaccinations are up to date (Bury Farm operates a 12-month vaccination policy)

Horses must also show no clinical signs of the following when attending the centre:

  1. recent cough of unknown cause
  2. recent nasal discharge of unknown cause
  3. enlarged lymph nodes
  4. fever (>38.5 degrees)
  5. recent onset of neurological signs of unknown cause
  6. diarrhoea

Horses must also 

  1. not be under current investigation for EHV infection
  2. have not been in contact with and is not kept on the same premises as a horse known to have or be under investigation for EHV
  3. have not travelled out of the country for the past 28 days.

 Horses should NOT be brought to the centre if they are not in good health on the date of travel.

 

1. The decision of the judges & stewards in all cases is final. They reserve the right to alter, amend or cancel any part of the competition or to refuse any entry without stating a reason.
2. The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health, safety and welfare of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards.
3. The organisers will not be held responsible and accept no liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, rider, spectators, vehicles or their contents and accessories, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. It is a condition of entry that each entrant shall agree to indemnify against any legal action arising from such incident.
4. All competitors must be suitably dressed in correct riding attire to current British Safety Standards. Riding / Jodhpur boots must be worn for all classes. 
5. Horses & ponies tied to lorry or trailers must not be left unattended.
6. Please ensure the area around your horsebox / trailer is clean and tidy. Droppings collected and not swept onto or left on BFEC. Please take litter home or use the bins provided.
7. Children must be supervised at all times
8. Whilst outside arenas, horses and ponies should be moved at a walk only.

9. No dogs allowed, other than in Lorry Park Only and MUST be on a lead at all times.

10. Drivers are urged to take extra care when driving around the Show Centre and in the surrounding villages. Please be mindful of horses, pedestrians and other vehicles.
