Show Information

Our series of informative talks are held in the warm and welcoming setting of the Arena Café. Taking place on Friday evenings every few weeks, these events are designed to be both educational and sociable.

The evening begins at 6.30pm with a welcome hot drink and biscuits, included in the admission price, with cakes and additional refreshments available to purchase. The talk itself will start at approximately 7.00pm.

For the this event, Tina Fitzgibbon BSc (Hons), MSc, PGCE talks about a hugely important subject, that of Recognising Pain in the Ridden Horse.

All too often, pain in ridden horses is labelled as ‘bad’ behaviour. Horses can only demonstrate pain through their behaviour and performance. Pain impacts all aspects of a horse’s performance, including its partnership with the rider, and its potential to progress. It does not always create lameness.  Only through first recognising pain can we then address it. The Ridden Horse pain Ethogram (RHpE) is a checklist of behaviours that allows us to objectively do that.

If you know of any other potential speakers for future talks, we would be delighted to hear from you.
