Driving Rules
1. Every Turnout must have a competent adult Groom/Passenger in attendance at all times. 2. All drivers, grooms, passengers under the age of 14 years MUST wear a correctly fitted hard hat when in a carriage or in attendance to a turnout on the Public Highway and in all areas of the showground. 3. No Hackney Show Wagons allowed. 4. All Horses/Ponies must be 4yrs old or over. 5. The Judge may, at his own discretion, transfer competitors to a different class. 6. It is essential that all competitors have adequate Third Party Insurance. 7. The driver must be aged 8 years or over on the first day of the show at which they are to compete. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over, a “responsible adult”. When in the vehicle grooms, passenger/s and driver must have their feet firmly on the floor of the vehicle or use a suitable fixed footrest. This regulation applies at all times and in all areas on the showground.
Framlingham Livestock Association - BYE LAWS
1. Show Director The Council shall appoint annually a Show Director for the management of the Showground and a Secretary, who shall be official Directors of the Showground during the show.
2. Judges and Stewards The Show Committee shall appoint annually Judges of stock exhibited and Stewards, such Stewards not being exhibitors in the department in which they act. The Association reserves the right to substitute other Judges for those mentioned in the prize schedule without notification to exhibitors and others
3. Judging The Judges to commence their judging at the appointed time as shown in the order of the Show. The Judges will be instructed not to award any prizes in classes in which animals exhibited do not possess sufficient merit. The Judge’s decision is final.
4. Suffolk Horses Suffolk Horses must be entered under the registered name of the bona fide owner or the hired exhibitor. All Suffolk Horses must be from Suffolk parents registered in the pedigree section of the UK Suffolk Horse Society Stud Book. This show is affiliated to the Suffolk Horse Society (SHS) and classes 42 – 52 & 57 are qualifiers for championship points for the annually awarded trophies. All entries for in Hand classes must be registered in or eligible for registration in the pedigree section of the UK Suffolk Horse Society Stud Book. All entries must state their SHS registration number and full pedigree name including prefix or affix. All foals must be eligible for registration in the pedigree section of the UK Suffolk Horse Society Stud Book. 5. Entries (a) No late entries will be accepted (b) Nomination entries will not be accepted.
6. Exhibitors All exhibitors must be prepared to have their stock in the Showground ready to be judged at the appointed time. Those in charge of stock shall be subject to the orders of the Director and Stewards of the show. The Exhibitor shall be liable to forfeit £25 if any animal sent by him shall, to his knowledge, be labouring under any infectious or contagious disease. No animal will be admitted to the Showground without a proper halter.
7. Cups and Trophies Framlingham Livestock Association has taken the difficult decision not to allow any trophies to be taken from the showground after presentation. A professional photograph will be taken of each presentation and given to the winner, with the compliments of the show.
8. Stock and Animals All foals exhibited shall have been foaled down from mares owned by the Exhibitor. Stock exhibited for the prizes shall have been the bona fide property of the Exhibitor at the time of entry who shall not be entitled to any award unless he has delivered his entrance fees by the time stated in the schedule to be fixed annually by the Show Committee. Nomination entries will not be accepted. The ages of the horses to be calculated by the year. (a) All dogs must be on leads (b) No horse or pony shall be harnessed to its vehicle and then tied to a horsebox/lorry or trailer
9. The Showground Any land used for any part of the Show constitutes “The Showground”
10. Imposition An Exhibitor showing an animal for an award with its natural colour or distinctive markings on face or legs altered in any way to deceive the Judge, or in any other way attempting to impose on the Association, shall forfeit such an award and be disqualified from exhibiting at any future Show of this Association.
11. Protest In all cases of disputed prizes, the protest, in writing, shall be made to the Secretary within an hour of delivering such Award. The person protesting shall at the same time of making the protest deposit with the Secretary the sum of £50. The same shall be returned to the party protesting if the protest is sustained and in the case of it not being sustained the deposit shall be forfeited to the Association. The Secretary, if possible, shall give notice of the protest to the person against whom it is made. The Secretary and Show Director shall, if possible, decide the case that day, otherwise it shall be referred to the Council whose decision shall be binding and conclusive on all parties and no action at law shall be brought or maintained in respect thereof. No member of the Council or Steward shall take part in the settlement of the disputed Award for which he is a competitor or has a vested interest.
12. Hard Hats An approved, well-fitted hat with a securely fastened chinstrap Skull Caps/Riding Hat that must meet current standards Nos. PAS 015: 2011/2019 with BSI Kitemark **, VG1 01.040 2014-12 with BSI Kitemark**, (BS) EN 1384:2023/2017 with BSI Kitemark **, SNELL E2016 or E2021 with the official Snell label and number **, ASTM-F1163 04a onwards or 2015 & 2023 with SEI mark, AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards with SAI Global mark, ** or with Inspec IC Mark. MUST be worn by all riders when mounted. “Go Pros” or other similar camera or recording devices must not be worn by exhibitors whilst on the showground and must not be mounted on either animals or equipment.
13. Public Admission The public will be admitted to the Showground at rates to be decided annually by the Committee.
14. Car Parks Motor cars, lorries, coaches, trailers, motor cycles and cycles admitted will be left along with contents entirely at the owners’ risk.
15. Entry fees FLA reserves the right not to accept an entry. Entry fees must be paid at the time of making the entry. Entry fees cannot be refunded unless veterinary certificate is produced in respect of the horse or a doctor’s certificate in respect of the exhibitor or rider.
16. Lost children Children who become separated from their parents or carers should be taken to the Framlingham Livestock Association (FLA) Secretary’s office and an FLA committee member informed.
17. Unacceptable behaviour No behaviour of an offensive, abusive or unpleasant manner to any person at The Framlingham Horse Show will be tolerated. Any act of discourtesy to any Judge, Steward or any Show Official on the part of the competitor, groom, rider, driver or agent of an animal, will, at the discretion of the Show Director disqualify that animal from being judged, in which case entry fees, prizes and charges will be forfeited. Exhibitors are reminded of their responsibility for the action of others within their part.
18. Dress Competitors, grooms and attendants, appearing with animals in judging rings must be dressed appropriately (no jeans or shorts) with appropriate headwear and footwear. Any person not complying with this regulation may be asked to leave the ring by the Steward or Judge. All children 14 years and under must wear a hard hat when showing in Hand.
19. Disclaimer of liability The Association, its Officers or Servants, will not be responsible for, or accountable to, any person whatsoever for any damage or loss to the property of any person whatsoever or for any accident or injury, fatal or otherwise, or for any disease damage or loss that may occur to any person whilst upon the Showground or car parks of whilst entering or leaving the same.
The Association, its Officers or Servants, shall not in any way be responsible or accountable for any accident, loss or damage that may happen (from any cause or circumstances whatsoever) to exhibitors or their servants or agents, or to any exhibit or any vehicle conveying any exhibit, or any article or thing containing or relating to any exhibit or any other property brought into the Showground or for anything else in connection with, or arising out of, or attributable to, the Association’s Show.
Exhibitors, or their servants of agents, shall be solely responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury or damage done to, or occasioned by, or arising from any animal or article exhibited by them and shall indemnify the Association against all legal or other proceedings, claims and costs arising therefrom. Exhibitors, or their servants or agents should always be satisfied that animal handlers provide the correct and appropriate restraining method and equipment for use.
Exhibitors are advised to insure against fire and other appropriate risks not only as regards their own property but also in respect of any third party claim.
SPECIAL NOTICE
VACCINATIONS All horses, ponies and donkeys MUST have completed a course of Equine Influenza vaccination with a licensed vaccine prior to entering the Showground. Within the last 12 months to have had either the primary course of vaccination or the appropriate booster to fully comply with the data sheet for that product. The interval between subsequent booster vaccinations in animals which have completed the primary course should not be more than 365 days. A valid vaccination history and certificate of vaccination MUST be available for inspection on request. Foals will not be expected to have commenced their primary course of Influenza vaccination before five months of age.
(The Framlingham Livestock Association will continue to monitor the situation and take veterinary advice regarding Equine Influenza and we will advise exhibitors if there are further amendments to this information)
