THE WEEKEND - WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Lessons: You will be able to choose from Flat, X-Country and Show Jumping lessons. Each camper will receive 3 lessons in groups of 3. Two on Saturday 23rd May (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and one lesson on Sunday 24thMay.
Instructors: We are very lucky to have Jan Brown and Penny Slinger who are both very knowledgeable over all 3 phases.
Jan teaches riders of all levels and has previously taught sessions for CDRC. She has competed in both BD and BS and is a registered ride judge for CHAPS UK. Jan has also competed at the British Riding Clubs National Championships. She has taught under the umbrella of world class training at the Yorkshire Riding Centre since 1976, bringing lots of experience and knowledge to her teaching.
Penny gained her teaching qualifications before working with both racehorses (jumpers) and event horses. She has produced horses from the early stages through to advanced level. Penny is currently eventing one horse and has a youngster she is starting. She enjoys training riders, helping them to build confidence and loves working with young horses.
Location: Greenlands Equestrian Centre, Wreay, Carlisle, Cumbria CA4 0RR.
Facilities: Greenlands has large indoor and outdoor arenas and a x-country course. They have an onsite café, toilets and a shower as well as a tack shop for any forgotten bits.
Horse Accommodation: Two nights stabling is provided in their temporary stables with rubber-matting and solid sides or in their permanent barn. All stables are disinfected before our arrival. You will be provided with one bale of shavings, you can buy more when you are there from the shop or bring your own. All stables must be emptied before departure.
You will be required to bring your own hay/haylage.
Rider Accommodation: There is lots of room to park horseboxes, trailers or caravans. There is the option for hook up which will require pre-booking and is an additional cost of £15 per night. Grass space is available for tents. Alternatively there are hotels within a 4 - 12 minute drive away (some options listed below) or Carlisle has lots of accommodation options too.
Catering: All meals, tea, coffee and juice will be provided for and are freshly prepared onsite by the head chef David who is happy to accommodate any dietary requirements. Food packages are available for additional grooms/helpers at £27.50 per day or £7 per lunch and £12.50 per supper. Children are welcome and dogs as long as they are on a lead at all times.
