About LyNK Courses
LyNK – comprising Lynda Davey, Nicky Donohue and Kate Thornton, coming together to create and strengthen biomechanical and emotional links between you and your horse.
During 2024, long-term Ride with your Mind coaches Nicky Donohue and Lynda Davey, teamed up with Norfolk based bodyworker, Kate Thornton to create a series of 3.5 day courses, which are very much tailored around the participants and their horses. For this reason, we limit each course to 6 people to ensure each horse-human partnership receives an experience which is bespoke to the stage of their individual journey.
Between the three of us we have a combined 58 years of equine experience. Lynda and Nicky are both accredited Ride with your Mind coaches, following the principles and techniques created by world-renowned Mary Wanless. Kate is an equine bodyworker employing various integrative support modalities to enhance the comfort and wellness of the equine body. She is a full member of IAAT (International Association of Animal Therapists).
• Discover the biomechanics of horse and rider
• Learn about the effects of posture and energy on your horse’s movement
• Encourage correct gymnastic development through empathetic riding and handling
• Develop clear and consistent training cues

Lessons are held in a 20x60 outdoor arena with an all-weather surface.

On-site Accommodation Options:
Equicode can offer on-site accommodation in fully equipped holiday barns at £35 per night for a double room, or £30 per person per night for a shared twin or bunk-bed room. Alternatively, sleep in your lorry/trailer - hook up available. Or maybe you'd prefer to pitch a tent, bring a caravan! If you would like to book holiday barn accommodation, this would need to be confirmed and paid for by 2 months prior to the course date. Shower and toilet facilities are on site. There is also a large games room with table tennis, snooker and pool tables so evenings can be sociable and if you like you can unwind at the end of the day in the indoor heated swimming pool.

Example Timetable:
Over the last few years we have evolved our timetable based on the needs and preferences of participants to date. The following is an outline of what will be included, but each course is bespoke to the individual needs of each client and their horse.

Arrival Day
Settle your horse in and meet the other course participants.
There will be a classroom-based workshop to introduce you to the concept of Ride With Your Mind. You will be able to discuss your goals further with the coaches and Kate will introduce you to some considerations about the equine body.
Each participant will have the chance to discuss with us, individually, their goals for the coming days.

Day 1
Nicky and Lynda will be teaching individual lessons in the arena and Kate will be working with you and your horse in the barn/classroom. The content of lessons and bodywork will be tailored to you and your horses’ individual needs. During your first lesson, Kate will typically provide a dynamic assessment of how your horse moves, and feed back to you and the coaches. Before lunch, there is a group workshop designed to build on the arena-based training, horse biomechanics and any questions or queries on the morning’s learning. After lunch, each of you will enjoy another 1 hour lesson with Nicky or Lynda in the arena and whilst not riding, another session with Kate will be provided to focus on considerations surrounding the equine body. In the evenings, you can relax and enjoy a swim, use the games room or chill out in the barn.

Day 2
To consolidate the course, Saturday will provide an opportunity for Nicky, Lynda and Kate to be present with you in the arena, each offering individual support. Kate will provide a dynamic assessment of how your horse is moving following the possible changes that have taken place in your biomechanical relationship with your horse. Lynda and Nicky will be there to further enhance your learning, help you with any remaining questions and be on hand whilst you practice some of the things that you have been working on throughout the course. This is a great opportunity for you to realise your achievements! After lunch, we are guided by you and your horses in terms of what you feel you would like to do – some may prefer a low-key ‘decompression’ type activity, where others may like to continue with some groundwork. During the course, Independent Weighbridge Consultant, Kate Morgan of Equiweigh will visit to weigh your horse and provide a discussion surrounding weight, diet and nutrition.

The course will be concluded by a ‘wash-up’ session before you head home

Equicode are situated about 35-minute drive from Holkham so you can always schedule a trip to the beach before you arrive here or on your way home - Tides permitting.

Fakenham has a golf club and there are lots of local points of interest so plenty to keep a partner occupied during the day should you wish to bring one along.
