This competition will run in conjunction with BRC Rules, anyone in attendance will be bound by the SRC and BRC Code of Conduct. HAT STANDARDS - HATS must be worn whenever mounted and conform to; the most current standard as per the British Riding Clubs Rulebook. ONLY Jockey skull hats without a peak may be worn for cross country. Hat silks may be worn with flexible peak. The use of HEAD CAMS are strictly prohibited. This includes use on the head, chest, bridle or any other part of the horse or rider. Medical armbands are advised but not compulsory and must be worn on the arm and filled out with up-to-date information.
BODY PROTECTORS A body protector with a Blue 2018 BETA Level 3 label is obligatory for all cross-country events and is also strongly recommended for all show jumping events. Please make sure your body protector is fitted and worn as per the manufacturer’s instructions. If a rider chooses to wear an airbag style body protector it must be worn over a permitted body protector. Hybrid Air jackets and Helite Air Jackets are permitted. It is recommended that body protectors are replaced once they are more than 5 years old. Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the secretary at all events.
CORRECT dress and footwear with defined heels must be worn. Long hair must be suitably tied up above the shoulder. ALL horses and ponies must be five years old and over. ALL Riders to be 8 years old and over.
WHIPS One whip is permitted for dressage and can be any length. Whips must not be used in a way or be of a length that disturbs other riders and may not be picked up if dropped during a test.
PADDED BATON One whip is permitted for showjumping and cross-country and MUST be between 45cm and 75cm and must not be weighted or with a hard point at the end. The end of the whip must be padded. The 'pad' must be smooth with no protrusion or raised surface (which includes embroidery) and be made of a shock absorbing material throughout its circumference.
SPURS cannot be used by juniors in intro tests.
ENTRIES accepted at rider’s risk. SRC reserve the right to refuse an entry at their discretion, cancel, amend or amalgamate any class for any reason whatsoever. The Judge’s decision is final.
INSURANCE Each competitor must carry their own liability insurance whether Riding Club, Pony Club, BHS, BS, BD, BE or independent cover.
HEALTH & SAFETY The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards. Those attending this event must report any accidents to the secretary or organiser of the event. Please do not leave unattended horses tied to lorries and no hay nets to be tied to the outside of lorries or trailers. Solihull Riding Club welcomes responsible dog owners. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

COMPETITION RULES:
1. Dressage Rules; - All tests are British Dressage. Dressage tests can be called, and whips can be carried. Grass reins will be allowed at our discretion.
2. Showjumping Rules; - If you are eliminated (3 refusals or run outs) you may be allowed to complete the showjumping course and at the discretion of the Showjumping judge you may be allowed to continue on to cross-country, but you will no longer be part of the competition (HC). If a rider falls they should leave the arena dismounted and will be assessed by the paramedic. They will not be permitted to present at the cross-country.
3. Cross-Country Rules: - If you are eliminated (3 refusals or run outs) you may be allowed to continue at the discretion of the XC judge. If a horse or rider falls, the rider must not remount and will therefore will not be permitted to continue. Cross-Country will be timed. The time will be set on the day based on the course. Optimum times will be visible on the course maps on the day. Competitors will incur time penalties for every commenced period of one second in excess of 15 seconds under the optimum time. Every second commenced after the optimum time has elapsed will incur 0.4-time penalty. Exceeding the time limit will incur elimination.
4. The correct attire should be worn for all phases. Stop watches are not allowed.
5. Tack Rules. - The following are not allowed for dressage – Martingales, boots and bandages, bit guards, side reins or draw reins. Grass reins are permitted at our discretion. Any bits are permitted for all phases, except the 70cm where bits for dressage must be in line with British Dressage Rules.
6. Objections to be made in writing to the Organisers, accompanied by a deposit of £10, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
7. No entrant shall be entitled to the return of any entry fee after closing date other than on production of the appropriate Veterinary or Medical Certificate and at the organisers’ discretion.
8. In the event of a tie for individual placings the collective marks shall be added together and the rider with the highest total shall take the higher place.
PHOTOGRAPHIC RIGHTS – Competitors (and their parents/guardians if under 18yo) and or attendees/spectators/volunteers have given permission for any photographic and/or film or video footage taken of persons or horses/ponies taking part in this event to be used and published in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of the organiser of the event, the venue, Top Shots Photography, or Official Sponsors of the venue or event.
