Equestrian Events
Horse riding is a dangerous sport and you participate at your own risk and without any reliance on Coleg Gwent, its owners, servants or agents for safety of yourself or your property. Due care has been taken to maintain the facilities in a safe condition, but riders must observe the following terms and conditions and any additional instructions that may be given.
An internal first aider will be present for the duration of the event.

Health and Safety
Coleg Gwent has taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid accidents occurring and obey the instructions of the organisers and all Coleg Gwent staff at all times.

We strongly advise that you take out your own personal insurance for both yourself and your horse.

Terms & Conditions for Events
1. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend competitions or classes in any way. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entries without assigning a reason. 2. Unaffiliated competitions will be run in accordance with the Rule Book of the relevant discipline and any amendments noted on individual schedules. 3. All riders under the age of 18 years of age must have parental consent. 4. A responsible adult must accompany all riders under the age of 18. 5. All unaccompanied competitors must provide the Show Organiser with a contact telephone number in case of an emergency. 6. The facilities must be used in a sensible manner compatible with the level of experience of the rider(s) and horse or pony. All riders must be competent in the level they are entering. 7. Riders take part at their own risk. 8. A ‘Riding Hat’ designed to provide protection, must be worn at all times by anyone whether or not a participant or competitor, riding anywhere on the Coleg Gwent site. Hats must reach at least one of the following standards: AII PAS 015: 1998, BS EN1384: 1997 – Provided that they are BSI Kite marked or SEI. Snell E2001 plus Snell Label with chin strap fastened as so to prevent the movement. 9. Body protectors – a British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) approved and appropriately labelled Level 3 body protector, manufactured in the year 2000 or after, is mandatory for cross country and whenever else a body protector is required to be worn. 10. Full length riding boots or jodhpur boots are compulsory. Other forms of footwear are not permitted. 11. All rubbish must be disposed of in the bins provided. Lorries/ trailers are not to be skipped out onto the car park. Please use the skips provided. 12. Coleg Gwent operates a No Smoking policy. Please only smoke within the designated smoking area. 13. All equipment breakages must be reported to Coleg Gwent Equestrian Centre staff and paid for. 14. Dogs are welcome onsite but must be kept on a lead at all times. Waste is to be disposed of in the bins provided. 15. Coleg Gwent does not accept responsibility for theft/damage to third party property. Storage facilities cannot be provided. When persons are permitted to leave equipment on the premises, they do so entirely at their own risk. 16. No horses/ponies to be tied to outside vehicles and left unattended. 17. All visiting horses must be vaccinated against equine flu and passports made available for routine inspections. Coleg Gwent accepts annual boosters within 12-months but not less that 7-days before visiting us onsite. 18. Rules on stallions as per each discipline’s respective Member’s Handbook. 19. Under no circumstances are horses to be lunged or loose schooled in the arenas. 20. No hay/haylage/animal or human feed stuff to be taken into the arenas. 21. No unauthorised persons shall enter the competition or collecting rings. 22. All accidents must be reported and an accident report completed with a Coleg Gwent staff member. 23. In all competitions the Judge’s decision shall be final. All competitors and other visitors to Coleg Gwent must adhere to all instructions provided by stewards. 24. There may be photography or filming going on at our competitions and it is your responsibility to let us know if you do not want to be photographed or filmed whilst at our event.

We have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of horse and rider to be effective, you must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring. Coleg Gwent reserves the right to remove someone from the facilities in the event of dangerous riding, abuse of the horse, or failure to act on common courtesy. Neither Coleg Gwent nor any person acting on behalf of the College accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horse, riders, spectators or any other persons or property whatsoever.
