Show Information

Entries close 25th May. NO LATE ENTRIES for PSL classes in the Addington Arena on Sunday. Late entries accepted in all other classes up to 1st June with late entry fee if space permits. 

In-hand youngstock classes - in the case of low entry numbers, age groups for each sex (i.e. fillies and colts/geldings separately) will be presented together but separate awards given. Ages will be split if entries warrant.

MCI DRESSAGE  Judges Richard Baldwin (List 1), Kirsty Mepham (List 1),  Tom Graham (List 2). You don’t need to be a MCI member to compete but you need to be a member in order for your score to be used as qualifying points. See www.mcigb.co.uk for information on rules, registration and qualifying. 

Payment Details & Event Fees

All entries for classes, stabling, bedding, haylage and hook up to be paid with entry through MyRidingLife.  Please note cash deposit of £20 needed for stables, refunded when stable inspected as clean.

Stabling Information: Yes

75 permanent stables (with rubber mats) plus 270 temporary stables available. Permanent stables allocated on a first come first served basis. Stallions will be allocated permanent stables and separated from mares as much as possible.

Stabling for one night £65 or £120 for show duration (Friday afternoon - 4pm Sunday). A £20 refundable cash deposit per stable paid to the stable manager upon arrival. Only shavings allowed. All stables must have bedding removed and swept clean. The deposit will be returned upon an empty stable. No mucking out equipment provided. 

Unauthorised use of stables – Any Competitor who enters or makes use of any stable that has not been officially reserved for their use will be liable for the daily charge for that stable and an additional fine of £80 for that stable. Horses may not be stabled in horseboxes / trailers or pens. A Competitor deemed by the Organiser to be stabling their horse / pony in such a way will be asked to leave the Show Ground.
If there are horses with different owners needing to be stabled together, make a note on the booking form. The first to arrive should book in for everyone in their group, but all members of the group must report to the Stable Manager on arrival.
Shavings £12 per bale, to be collected from stable manager. 
Haylage available at £10 per bale, to be collected from the stable manager.
Hook Up £55 for one night and £95 for two nights. All hook ups will get a special tag on arrival to be displayed in lorry windscreen. Unauthorised hook up, cable(s) will be confiscated and competitor will be charged £120

Special Classes

All dressage classes are run under the auspices of MCI and are qualifiers for MCI GB Championships, held at Addington on 19-20 September 2026, and MCI European Championships, held at Sentower Park, Belgium on 7-11 October 2026.  You DO NOT need to be a member of MCI to compete, but you need to be a member in order for your score to be used towards qualification.  Traditional costume, bridle and saddle may be worn for the Freestyle classes. BD tack rules apply at all times - no pelhams.

Horses and ponies placing first, second and third in eligible classes, who have not yet qualified, will qualify for the Champion of Britain Title classes held at Onley Equestrian centre, Rugby, Warwickshire on 25th and 26th September 2026. Qualified horses/ponies will receive a qualification card in the ring, allowing the owner to enter the Championship show.  Owners and riders must be, or become, registers with the Concours d'Elegance Society within 21 days of the qualifying show; no horse registration is required. In Hand classes including Mare grading. All handlers have three minutes to show of their horses in all paces on both reins in a minimum 20 x 40m arena.  Horses may be asked to include trot and canter circle. Use of long line is recommended.

Ridden classes including Stallion grading. All riders have three minutes to show off their horses in all paces on both reins in a minimum 20x40m arena. This can include lateral work, circles etc. Horses may be asked to be stripped. Horses that perform movements ABOVE the level for which they are entered will be eliminated and cannot be considered for a place in the class line-up, unless stated otherwise.

British Bred - definition of British bred is that the horse must have been bred on UK soil and issued with a UK passport.

Terms & Conditions
51. The show is organised by the Lusitano Breed Society of GB Ltd (“The Organisers”), stewards and volunteers. Entry constitutes an agreement to abide and to be bound by the SHOW RULES. Entering online will constitute an electronic signature of acceptance of these rules.
2. The Lusitano Breed Society of GB Ltd, its officers and show committee do not accept any liability for the loss of, or damage to property, or for any consequential or indirect loss. 
3. The Organisers will take necessary precautions to ensure Health & Safety of persons on the showground. It is a condition of entry to the showground that competitors and spectators will act on any instruction given to them by the Organisers in so far that it can affect the Health & Safety of all. All competitors and spectators must take due regard to Section 7 of the Health & Safety Act & have due regard for the safety of others.
4. In entering the show, you accept all risks associated with entering a show run by non-professionals.
5a. Horses must be registered (pure or part bred as applicable) with their appropriate stud books in the UK. Horses registered with studbooks other than LGBSG or BAPSH as part bred Lusitano, cruzado or as Fusion may be required to provide proof of parentage. 
5b. All Purebred Lusitano (PSL) must be registered correctly registered in the owner’s name with the APSL and LBSGB.
5c. Exceptions are for horses of Iberian origin, which are Portuguese or Spanish horses on ID passports.  These will not be eligible in pure or part bred classes. 
6. Either the owner or the rider must be current members of the LBSGB to qualify for discounted entry fees.
7. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entries. If horses are withdrawn for any reason entry,stabling or hook up fees will not be refunded.
8. The Organisers reserve the right to change classes, judges & times as circumstances dictate.
9. Classes may be split, merged or cancelled depending on the number of entries.
10. Competitors to follow instruction by stewards, judge and organisers. Rudeness and abusive behaviour etc will not be tolerated including failure to follow instructions. The person may be asked to leave the showground immediately with no refund of entry fees.
11. The judge’s decision is final. 
12. Objections must be made in writing and handed to the Show secretary within 1 hour of the incident with a deposit of £20, which is only refundable if the objection is upheld. For all Sunday’s PSL classes objection fee is £100.
13. Stallions & colts must be exhibited in a properly fitted bridle or cavesson only. No halters.
14. Horses that misbehave or are under inadequate control, or riders or handlers who act in a manner unacceptable to the judge, stewards, volunteers or organisers, may be asked to leave the showground immediately with no refund of entry fees.
15. Horses, riders & handlers should be neatly attired in either correct English dress or the appropriate traditional dress for the class entered. No mix and match of tack. Hard hat according to latest standard may be worn with traditional dress but compulsory in English ridden.
16. The LBSGB, the venue & the show Organisers DO NOT accept liability for any accident, injury, damage or loss whatsoever however caused to any person, animal or property at any time.
17. All competitors, riders, handlers, spectators or any other persons enter these classes and premises at their own risk.
18 Ridden showing classes to be ridden in a snaffle, double bridle or Pelham, riders can be dressed in English or traditional outfits unless otherwise stated. Junior and novice classes in snaffle bridle only
19. Riding Helmets & Hats: Protective hats are to be worn by all riders at all times except when dressed in traditional costume but it is still strongly recommended that riders do wear a protective hat.  ALL juniors (under 18 years of age) must wear a hard hat when competing (including in hand), regardless of what classes they are in. All hats to comply with the latest standards as outlined. Protective hats must meet one of the following standards:  British – All PAS 015 (2011 and subsequent updates), European – VG1, European – 1384 2017 (only in conjunction with another accepted standard from this list) American – SNELL E2016, E2021. Australia & New Zealand – AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards. Harnesses must be correctly fastened at all times whilst mounted. If a rider enters without wearing the correct headgear, the Judge will notify the rider and instruct to dismount and leave the arena. At the discretion of the organiser and the Judge, the rider may re-enter once properly attired. If a rider fails to comply with the instruction, the organiser is to eliminate the competitor from all classes on that day. This will also apply if, as a result of a spot check, a rider’s hat is found not to comply with the required standard.
20. Competitors competing in traditional Portuguese, Spanish riding costume or Iberians period dress in ridden classes, by entering this show which includes an electronic signature or otherwise constitutes the hat waiver form.
21. Excessive use of the whip or spurs will NOT be tolerated.
22. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Owners to ensure they clean up after their dogs. Failure to do so will mean asking owner to remove dog from the showground
23. Horses must not be tied to horseboxes or trailers and left unattended at any time.
24. Horse Welfare. Code of Conduct for Horse Welfare, the LBSGB welfare rules and policies have been developed in consultation with World Horse Welfare. In all respects, the welfare of the horse must come first. Welfare breaches are never acceptable, and will result in disqualification from the show.   
25. Please be respectful and mindful to others with regards to noise late into the evenings.
