ENTRIES CLOSE Thursday 25th September 2025 or earlier if full. Late entries if space allows up to 9am Thursday 2nd October.  There will be a £6.00 LATE FEE added to all entries received after Thursday 25th September. No entry will be accepted without the payment.

Only one padded baton, as defined in detail in the British Eventing Member Handbook may be carried.

Show Information

HUNTER TRIAL RULES: The rules governing marking the course, definitions of faults and method of judging are those given in the current BE Rules.  There are however special rules for the Time Section and Pairs.       

·        YELLOW for the 70cm classes Max Height 70cms (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 435 mpm)

·        PURPLE for the 80cm & 80cm Pairs classes Max Height 80cms (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 435 mpm)

·        ORANGE for the 90cm & 90cm Pairs classes Max Height 90cms  (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 450 mpm)

·        PINK for the 100cm class Max Height 1m  (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 475 mpm)

All competitors are responsible for making way for and not impeding overtaking competitors, especially in the Timed Section.  Inconsiderate riding leading to obstructing another competitor could lead to elimination, at the Judge's discretion.

CLASS 3 & 5:   PAIRS    They will be penalised on dressing at certain fences (see plan of course).  Competitors may choose which side of fences to jump and may change as often as they wish.

Elimination and Retiring.  Any competitor who retires must leave the course immediately at a walk. Any competitor in Classes 1, 2 or 3 who is eliminated for 3 refusals may continue around the course at the discretion of XC Control but may only have three attempts at any one fence and then must proceed to the next obstacle.  Fence judges may insist that a competitor leaves the course immediately in the interest of the safety of horse, rider, spectators or the course.

SCORING AND RESULTS

Competitors will not be timed overall.  

There is a timed section approximately half way round the course – the competitor who completes the

course without penalties and is closest to the optimum time (in the timed section)

will be judged the winner.

Penalties:

        Fall of horse or rider in xc warm up must be checked by the medical team before continuing

  • First refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle                                         20 penalties
  • Second refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle                                    40 penalties
  • Third refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle                                        Elimination
  • Fall of horse or rider anywhere on the course                                       Elimination

In Pairs classes:  Penalties will be given on daylight between the horses when jumping or landing over a dressing fence depending on distance between horses.

  • Less than one horses length                                                                     5  penalties
  • More than one horses length                                                                   10 penalties 

Error of course not rectified, retaking an obstacle already jumped (unless part of a combination) or jumping an obstacle which is part of the course in the wrong order, inconsiderate riding, dangerous riding, obstructing another competitor, disobeying an order to stop = Elimination

Entries accepted in advance using our Secure Online Entry System only.

Payment is secure and it goes directly to West Wilts EC. You will receive an email confirmation of your class entry and payment. Please make sure you check the entry details and the classes entered are correct. 

Refreshments:

There will be onsite catering for hold and cold refreshments, drinks and snacks. 

Withdrawals/Refunds

Withdrawals: A refund, less £5.00 admin fee, will be made for withdrawals made via email before the close of entries on Thursday 25th September 2025. All withdrawals to be made via email – info@westwilts.com

After the initial close of entries (Thursday 25th September 2025) no transfer of entry will be possible and no refunds will be given unless replaced from the waitlist (if we have one). These refunds will be subject to a £5.00 admin fee. The £1.50 booking fee is non refundable in all cases.

In case of abandonment (or cancellation of event due to any infectious disease) entry fees will be returned less £5.00 abandonment fee per entry .

Terms & Conditions
 
  • All entries and payments to be made online.
  • Horses/Ponies must be 4 years of age or older.
  • Horses/Ponies must have a valid passport and vaccination record and must have been vaccinated in accordance with current BE rules.
  • All horses must not be under current investigation for infectious diseases including, for example Equine Herpes Virus (EHV), Equine Influenza and Strangles.
  • All horses must not have been in contact and must not be kept on the same premises as a horse known to have or be under investigation for the neurological form of EHV, Equine Influenza, Strangles or Equine Viral Arteritis.
  • Horses/Ponies must not be left tied up outside unattended.
  • Points won in B.E. events will not apply.
  • Hard hats (no fixed peaks will be allowed) must be worn to BE/PC/RC standards and must be tagged with new PINK Tag (2023 onwards).
  • Body protectors must be worn and of the 2018 standard
  • Competitors should wear medical arm bands if they have anything they need to disclose to paramedics in event of a fall.
  • Any horse or pony, which is considered by a Judge or the Organisers to be too small for the jockey, unsound, unfit or unhealthy, will be excluded from further competition without any refund of entry fee.
  • ATV’s and motor-bikes are not permitted, unless specifically authorised by the Organisers.
  • All dogs must be kept on short leads.
  • Please clear up droppings or hay in the lorry park.
  • All competitors will be required to print their own numbers , so each rider will require a bib to display the number.
  • No spectators or filming are allowed in any of the warmup or competition arenas. Please use viewing areas.
  • The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry. 
  • Although every effort will be made to ensure the safety of participants, horse riding is a very high-risk sport and therefore, West Wilts Equestrian Centre and its staff cannot accept responsibility for any accident, damage or injury to horses, owners or other persons or property
