HUNTER TRIAL RULES: The rules governing marking the course, definitions of faults and method of judging are those given in the current BE Rules. There are however special rules for the Time Section and Pairs.
· YELLOW for the 70cm classes Max Height 70cms (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 435 mpm)
· PURPLE for the 80cm & 80cm Pairs classes Max Height 80cms (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 435 mpm)
· ORANGE for the 90cm & 90cm Pairs classes Max Height 90cms (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 450 mpm)
· PINK for the 100cm class Max Height 1m (Optimum Time for Timed Section will be calculated at 475 mpm)
All competitors are responsible for making way for and not impeding overtaking competitors, especially in the Timed Section. Inconsiderate riding leading to obstructing another competitor could lead to elimination, at the Judge's discretion.
CLASS 3 & 5: PAIRS They will be penalised on dressing at certain fences (see plan of course). Competitors may choose which side of fences to jump and may change as often as they wish.
Elimination and Retiring. Any competitor who retires must leave the course immediately at a walk. Any competitor in Classes 1, 2 or 3 who is eliminated for 3 refusals may continue around the course at the discretion of XC Control but may only have three attempts at any one fence and then must proceed to the next obstacle. Fence judges may insist that a competitor leaves the course immediately in the interest of the safety of horse, rider, spectators or the course.
SCORING AND RESULTS
Competitors will not be timed overall.
There is a timed section approximately half way round the course – the competitor who completes the
course without penalties and is closest to the optimum time (in the timed section)
will be judged the winner.
Penalties:
Fall of horse or rider in xc warm up must be checked by the medical team before continuing
- First refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle 20 penalties
- Second refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle 40 penalties
- Third refusal, circle or run out at an obstacle Elimination
- Fall of horse or rider anywhere on the course Elimination
In Pairs classes: Penalties will be given on daylight between the horses when jumping or landing over a dressing fence depending on distance between horses.
- No day Light No penalties
- Less than one horses length 5 penalties
- More than one horses length 10 penalties
Error of course not rectified, retaking an obstacle already jumped (unless part of a combination) or jumping an obstacle which is part of the course in the wrong order, inconsiderate riding, dangerous riding, obstructing another competitor, disobeying an order to stop = Elimination
