A Six Bar Challenge comprises 6 vertical fences placed in a single line with two strides between each (like a grid). The fences go up for each jump off round with only those jumping clear going through to the next round, up to a maximum of 5 rounds. You can retire or withdraw at any stage and will be placed equal with any faulters in that round. In the event of equality in the final jump-off the prize money is divided equally. Rule 279

Entries accepted in advance using our Secure Online Entry System. Payment is secure and it goes directly to Jersey Riding Club. You will receive an email confirmation of your class entry and payment.
Please note that MyRiding Life charges an additional £ 1.50 per payment so it's a good idea to enter both the Dressage and Show weekends at the same time!

The Meal Deal is back! Gin-in-a-tin and a sandwich or cake is our Special Offer for this event, otherwise we will have the usual tea, coffee, cold drinks, sandwiches, crisps, snack bars and homemade cake available.

Competitors must be a member of JRC. Day memberships or full memberships can be taken out and must be completed and submitted along with evidence of public liability insurance held to the Membership Secretary prior to the event. A form is downloadable from the JRC website. 1. All competitors must: be fully paid up members of the Jersey Riding Club or have taken out temporary membership for the duration of the Show at £15.00. Temporary members must provide evidence of third party public liability and are not eligible to receive trophies.
2. Anyone riding, whether competing or not, must wear a hard hat with three point linkage harness properly adjusted and fastened at all times whilst mounted. Note that the British Riding Club standards have been revised again for 2024 and hats with the PAS 015 1998 or SNELL 2001 standards are no longer valid. Hard hats must confirm to PAS015 2011 (must have BSI Kitemark or Inspec IC mark), VG1 01.040 (2014-12 and must have BSI Kitemark or Inspec IC mark) ASTM F1163 2004a or 04a onwards (must have SEI mark), SNELL E2016 with official SNELL Label & Number, AS/NZS 3838 2006 Onwards (must have SAI Global mark). Where a hat is of skullcap style, this must be worn with a silk; all riders must wear appropriate footwear. Any non-member riding on the show ground will not be covered by Riding Club insurance. 3. The Jersey Riding Club, its Committee (and sub-committees), its Honorary Officials and any persons acting on its behalf shall not be held responsible for any accident or injury to any person, animal or property howsoever caused.
4. To qualify for the show all competitors must help with the show’s organisation.

Entries received later than this date will be charged £3.00 above the entry fee of the class. Late entries for the Main Show will be accepted on the day and an entry form will be available in the secretary’s caravan.
Members making late entries who have not already helped with the show will be required to help clear up after the show or at the dressage weekend. Anyone failing to carry out their help duties will not be permitted to enter future events until their help obligation has been undertaken.
6. Dressage Times – times will be posted on the JRC Facebook page by end of Wednesday 15 May but please note that revised times may need to be issued so please keep an eye on Facebook activity towards the end of that week.
7. Trophies are to be returned by close of entries, suitably engraved and cleaned, or in advance of entry closing date by prior arrangement with Dionne Gorst. Failure to return trophies by the due date will incur a fine of £10.00 and entries will not be accepted until trophies have been returned.
8. RIDING CLUB NUMBERS MUST BE WORN. If you are taking out a day membership please ask at the secretary’s caravan to be allocated a number for the duration of the Show. Note that for dressage, TWO numbers are now required under BRC rules, one on either side of the horse.
9. Please note that where classes have insufficient entries, the Committee reserves the right to amalgamate classes.
10. Horses must be four years of age or over to compete in any class.
11. For the purpose of this show the term “horse” means horse or pony.
12. For showing and/or in-hand, Veterans are horses 18 years of age or over. This does not make them ineligible for any other class.
13. Jumps in the collecting rings must not be higher than the prevailing class.
14. Show Jumping will be judged under British Riding Club Rules, as defined in the prevailing Rule Book.
15. Objections may only be made by a fully paid up member of the Jersey Riding Club, to be lodged in writing with the Show Secretary, within 30 minutes of the end of the class in question accompanied by a £25 cash deposit which will be refunded if the objection is justified.
16. Nobody is permitted to enter the Judges box whilst a class is in progress.
17. No lunging in the Collecting Rings. The Trailer Parking field may be used if required.
18. Horses must walk between the rings and the horsebox park, are only allowed in the designated walkways and must wear a bridle at all times whilst on the main Showground, including when led.
19. All competitors and spectators are asked to treat the showground with respect. Please do not skip out horseboxes/trailers onto the fields and please clean up after your horses before leaving the showground and take your litter, including hay & bedding home with you.
20. Stallions, when being led must be led from a bit, with a lead rope of a minimum length of 2.5 metres.
A stallion disc must be worn on both sides of the horse’s bridle at all times. No person may bring a stallion to a competition without ensuring, at all times, that competitors, ponies/horses and members of the public are not put at risk. Riders may also wear a yellow crossband.
21. Red (for horses that may kick) and green (for young/nervous horses) ribbons may be worn in the tail.
22. The Committee reserve the right to ask anyone who is seen ill-treating a horse to leave the Showground.
23. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
24. No motorbikes or cycles are to be ridden on the show ground.
25. Please refer to the JRC Constitution and BRC Handbook for information regarding competition rules and tack for JRC events. A copy of the JRC Constitution and links to the BRC Handbook can be found on the JRC website.
