Registered Pure Bred New Forest Ponies 4 years old or over, Riders any age, except those riding stallions, who must be 12yrs or over on the 1st January in the current year to ride any stallion not exceeding 138cm or 14yrs & over on the 1st of January in the current year for stallions exceeding 138cm Ponies, Owners and Riders need not be B.S.P.S members to compete in the Breed Semi-Final qualifying classes but pony, owner & rider will need to register to compete in the SEMI-FINAL to be held at the B.S.P.S. Heritage Championship Show. Classes will be judged under B.S.P.S rules as per the 2024 B.S.P.S. rule & show handbook. Animals must be correct height for the breed as laid down in the individual breed standards. The 1st & 2nd Prize winners will qualify to compete at THE HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW at Arena UK 19th & 20th October 2024 - The qualification will NOT pass down the line.

KNIGHTWOOD CHALLENGE QUALIFYING ROUND Registered New Forest Ponies that jump CLEAR will Qualify and go forward to compete in the Knightwood Challenge at the 2024 New Forest & Hampshire County Show. Please Note - That all ponies that take part in this Qualifier MUST be Registered New Forest Ponies in the full section of the stud book (part bred, or first cross are not eligible). New Forest & Hampshire County Show Knightwood Challenge Class Format 2024 Should more than TEN riders jump Clear in class 76 and present themselves on the show day, a Second qualification round consisting of a timed Jump off will be ridden prior to the main class commencement. The top ten fastest & Clear competitors will qualify to go Forward to jump against the Show Jumpers in the Main Class.

The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS Corscaron Horse Essentials Home-Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home-Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit.

Owners of qualified ponies must become adult Qualifying or Life members to enter the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 6th – 8th August 2024. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life Member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider’s/handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner’s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette, but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the Final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 6th – 8th August 2024. NPS Blackertor & Sharptor Studs Mountain & Moorland In Hand Silver Medal Championship
A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by The National Pony Society for the best registered pony in the Mountain & Moorland In Hand Section Owned by a Qualifying or Life Member of The National Pony Society. Winners are entitled to compete in the Cuddington Stud Mountain & Moorland In Hand Silver Medal Championship at the Summer Championships 6th - 8th August 2024. NPS M&M Breed Champions Prelim Round Qualifier for the Great British In Hand Show – September 2024.

NPS Nicholls Family M&M Ridden Silver Medal Championship
A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by The National Pony Society. This Championship is for stallions, mares, and geldings, registered in the main body of their respective Breed Society stud book, which have won their NPS affiliated M&M Ridden class (with the exception of Working Hunter Pony, First Ridden and Leading Rein classes). The Silver Medal Rosette goes to the Champion, if owned by an NPS member. If the Champion is not owned by an NPS member the Silver Medal Rosette goes to the Reserve if it is owned by an NPS member. Silver Medal Rosette to go no lower than first Reserve (third) provided it is owned by an NPS Member.

Terms & Conditions

1. All persons attending this show do so at their own risk. The Organisers and Landowners do not accept responsibility for any accident to persons, their animals or property. Entries accepted and admission granted subject to these conditions. 2. The Organisers reserve the right to decline any entry without assigning a reason. The Organisers reserve the right to split or amalgamate classes as they see fit. 3. Competitors entering classes that may clash, do so at their own risk. No entry fees will be refunded. It is left to the discretion of the judge whether to allow persons arriving late at their ring to take part in the class. 4. Entries may be refunded on production of the appropriate, current veterinary or doctor’s certificate 5. Any act of discourtesy or disobedience to any judge or official on the part of the Exhibitor, Groom or Rider of an animal, will at the discretion of such official, disqualify the animal from being judged, in which case entry fees and charges will be forfeited. 6. In the event of cancellation of the show, the entry fee will be refunded less an administration charge. 7. All competitors are strongly advised to ensure that they carry third party insurance cover. 8. Hard Hats up to current standard including PASO15- 2011, ASTMFI1163, Snell E2001 standard, properly fastened, are obligatory for all riders whilst mounted. 9. All drivers on the showground must obey instructions of the parking stewards and officials. 10. No unauthorised person or horses to enter any ring. 11. No horses/ponies are permitted to enter the pedestrian areas. 12. No cantering or galloping in the lorry park. 13. No whip sticks or canes to exceed 30ins in length. 14. All foals must accompany their dams into the ring and must be at least three weeks old on the day of the show. Brood mares must be 4yrs & over. 15. All Stallions and Colts, 2yrs old & over must be in possession of a current stallion licence, or otherwise governed by their individual breed society. All stallions MUST display a stallion bridle marker (NPS rule 2.8) 16. All horses and ponies ridden on the show ground must be 4 years old or over. 17. Mountain and Moorland ponies must be shown un-plaited and in a natural state. 18. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. 19. Objections or protests must be made in writing with the objector’s full name and address with 20 minutes of the event concerned and lodged in the secretary’s tent together with £20. This sum will be refunded if the objection is sustained or forfeited if the objection is found to be frivolous or incorrect in any detail. 20. All trophies must be signed for at collection and must be returned to the Secretary by 15th March 2025. 21. Equine Influenza vaccinations are a compulsory requirement for all horses/ponies competing in NPS affiliated classes. 22.
