Special Classes

 BRC Winter Qualifer Rules

Eligibility for all BRC qualifier classes can be found in the current BRC handbook. Eligibility will be taken from the close of pre entry. All competitors must be a member and be on the BRC database by midday the Friday before the qualifier.  Anyone failing to meet the eligibility criteria will be disqualfied and informed by BRC headquarters when the results are processed.  This competition will be run under the BRC rules, anyone in attendance will be bound by the BRC Code of Conduct.  It is important that all competitors are aware of the rules in relation to this competition.  Please see the current BRC rulebook and BRC rule amendments which can be found at www.bhs.org.uk/britishridingclubs.co.uk

All entrants must submit a pre-entry to BRC (fees can be found in the current BRC handbook) at least 21 days before the qualifier date of 10/12/23.  Pre-entries can be made by the pre entry website.  Late pre-entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organiser with a late surchange of £10 per individual and £20 per team (payable to BRC headquarters) if space permits.  Late entries cannot be guaranteed and so therefore MUST NOT be paid for until approval from the organiser has been gained.  Once pre-entry has been made, competition entry must be made via the details outlined in this schedule.

If the date of the qualifier is cancelled for any reason and rescheduled within 21 days, the close of pre-entry will remain. If the qualifier is rescheduled for more than 21 days afer the original date, entries will re-open.  Late entry fees will not be refunded.  Eligibility is taken from the Friday before the qualifier regardless of resheduling. Pre-entries that cannot attend the new date may be issued a credit note but the team manager must inform BRC headquarters, in wiriting, beofre the cut-off date which the Area will be informed of upon reshceduling. Numbers to qualify as per Appendix 10 in the current BRC Handbook.

All qualifying classes are competitions for teams of 3 or 4 with the best 3 scores to count.  Individual entries in all classes are eligible to qualify for the championsip.

Horses may compete at consecutive heights.

Horses may only compete twice in show jumping classes.

Heights stated are the maximum in the first round and will be raised by 5cm in the jump off section.

Junior riders must be under 18 years on the first of January 2023

Jumping will be indoors with the warmup on a surface outdoors

Terms & Conditions

Rules & Conditions of Entry

  1. Neither WVRC or the venue accepts liability for any accident, injury, loss or damage to persons, animals or property, however caused.  The organisers have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measues to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the organisers / instrutors
  2. Events will be run under British Riding Club rules. See BRC’s website for full details.
  3. Hats to the minimum standard must be worn at all times when mounted or handling horses, with harness properly adjusted and fastened. Failure to do so will incur elimination with no refund. The minimum standard includes hats marked PAS015:1998 or 2011, all SEI, ASTM F1163:2004a or 04a, SNELL E2001, all SAI AS/NZS 3838 2006. Skullcap hats must be worn with a silk. Competitors are responsible for ensuring their hat meets the required standard.
  4. It is advisable to wear a body protector in any class involving jumping.
  5. Entries will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
  6. Classes may be split/limited at organiser’s discretion.
  7. Entry fees must accompany entry forms. No entries will be accepted by telephone/email.
  8. No Refunds will be issued after the closing date.
  9. Horses/ponies can be ridden only once in each class and must be 4 years old or over.
  10. The decision of the judge is final in all matters.
  11. The Organisers/Committee reserves the right to cancel, add to or amend the classes.
  12. The Organisers/Committee reserve the right to eliminate any competitor who, in their opinion, places him/herself or others in any danger or who fails to observe the rules in this schedule.
  13. Stewards instructions must be followed at all times.
  14. Misuse of whips or spurs will incur elimination. Blatant use of bad language may result in the competitor being eliminated and/or barred from further competitions. Aggressive behaviour to Stewards or Organisers may result in the competitor being eliminated and/or barred from further competitions.
  15. Objections must be made directly to the Secretary in writing within 30 minutes of the relevant incident, accompanied by a £30 deposit which will be refunded if the objection is sustained
  16. Should the event be cancelled, entry fees will be refunded, less £5 per class administrative costs.
  17. To compete as a Junior you must not have reached the age of 18 before 1st January this year.
  18. All dressage test are current tests.
  19. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
  20. Horses who are not competing are not allowed on the show ground without prior permission from the Organisers.
  21. Stallions must wear a stallion disc and wear a white ribbon. Stallions may not be ridden by a junior.
