From the East: Leave A303 at Amesbury Countess Services roundabout. Take A345 to Durrington. At next roundabout where A345 meets A3028 from Bulford, take second exit (A345) signed Marlborough, Upavon, Netheravon. 
DO NOT TURN LEFT TOWARDS LARKHILL GARRISON. 
Remain on A345 for just over 1 mile. Just after 2 white houses on the left (postcode SP4 8AT), turn left onto Tank Track at ‘C’ Crossing (signified by big posts with yellow tops, Grid SU 153 459). What3Words: ///diggers.mushroom.windmills
Follow the gravel track (1.5miles) until you see the Queen's Building and XC/P2p course on the right, turn right and park as directed. What3Words: ///laugh.pass.wasp

From the West: On the Shrewton to Durrington Road (The Packway), before Larkhill Camp, pass the military compound (on your right). Turn left onto the tank track (Grid SU 118 445, opposite where a belt of trees meets the road).  What3Words: ///hurray.letters.losing.
Follow the track, keeping right, to T junction and turn right. Continue straight on past Larkhill Camp back gates. After 500m, keep left at the fork (so the belt of trees will be on your right hand side). Continue until you see the Queen's Building and XC/P2p course on the left, turn left and park as directed. The Course is situated in the middle of the Point to Point track. It is on good springy old turf in mildly undulating country over substantial well built obstacles.

PLEASE NOTE:  Entry fees cover all costs, There are no additional or hidden costs.

NO timed section, NO gates, NO knockdown fences and NO pairs dressing fences

Numbered cloth XC bibs will be available.
Competitors are permitted to use their own number bibs but must supply their own, clearly printed, paper number inserts. 

Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times including whilst walking the cross country course

The Cross Country Course is open for walking at 1-6pm on Saturday 29th October

In all classes, in the event of equality of penalties, the winners will be those with the best judgement of pace over the whole course (nearest to the optimum time).

PARAMEDIC & VET IN ATTENDANCE

Any veterinary services utilised MUST be paid at the time of treatment or credit card details supplied to secure payment.

We are privileged to have the use of this site, please clear up all droppings & DO NOT feed hay outside of your lorry / trailer.
Leave area tidy.
DO NOT LEAVE HORSES OR PONIES TIED TO LORRIES/TRAILERS & LEFT UNATTENDED

Terms & Conditions

General Hazard Warnings for Salisbury Plain Training Area. 
The course and its surroundings are sited on a MOD range and training area, where live ammunition has been used. Please observe the following precautions: 
a. Approach and leave the course area using the signed routes and tracks. 
b. Do not stray away from these routes or the environs of the course. 
c. Do not touch any suspected munitions or any unfamiliar objects, even if you think they are safe or harmless. Any such objects sited must be reported to the Secretary’s Tent as soon as possible. 
d. Be on the lookout for overgrown slit trenches, bomb craters, scrap metal, wire and trip flares. 
e. Give priority to any military personnel & vehicles. 

Health & Safety Policy: The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health & safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and shall obey the instructions of the organiser, and all officials & stewards. 

Competition Notes: 
For the avoidance of doubt, competitors shall understand that the rules and conditions of entry (listed below) are the sole terms under which the Bourne Valley Riding Club (BVRC) organises competitions. Competitors shall not enter BVRC events unless they have read, understood and fully accepted these terms. 

BVRC General Rules & Conditions of Entry 

  1. All classes will be run in accordance with current Official Rules for British Riding Clubs' Competitions.
  2. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that neither the organisers nor land owners nor their agents shall be held responsible for any loss, injury, damage to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants or horses or ponies, howsoever caused.
  3. Anyone who is competing, exercising, handling or responsible for a horse and is not a British Riding Clubs (BRC) member must have their own, third party, insurance.
  4. Competitors shall be 14 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER at the closing date for entry.
  5. Horses and ponies shall be 4 years of age or older at the closing date for entry.
  6. Horses may only be ridden once in each class. RIDERS MAY ENTER A MAXIMUM OF TWO HORSES PER CLASS.
  7. Everyone mounted, whether or not a competitor, shall wear correct riding clothes, which must include ‘Protective Headwear’, with a harness properly adjusted and fastened. 
    Failure to do so will incur elimination.
    ‘Protective Headwear’ constitutes a hat meeting one of the following standards: 
    British PAS 015: (1998 or 2011)     } Provided they are BSI Kitemarked 
    European VG1 01.040: (2014-12)  } or Inspec IC marked 
    American ASTM F1163: (2004a or 04a onwards) Provided they are marked SEI
    SNELL E2001 or SNELL E2016 provided they have official SNELL label and number. 
    Australian & New Zealand AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards Provided they are SAI Global marked 
    Hats must be Jockey Scull to above standard and MUST NOT have a PEAK of more than 5mm
    Skullcaps must be worn with an appropriate coloured silk.
  8. Long riding boots, designed for riding, or short riding boots with either gaiters of same leather and colour or suede half chaps, of identical colour to the boots and with no decoration or tassels of any sort, are to be worn.
    A Body Protector to BETA Level 3 (Purple Label dated 2009 or after or Blue label dated 2018 or after) is compulsory. 
    An Airbag style protector, if used, must be worn over a permitted body protector. 
    Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the organiser before commencing the cross country. 
    MEDICAL ARMBANDS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED AND IF USED MUST BE WORN ON THE RIDER’S ARM.
  9. Hair must be neatly secured and MUST not hang lower than the shoulder line when standing normally. 
    Jewellery including body piercing components and therapeutic medical devices (wristbands) must be removed. If removal is not possible, items must be covered up by clothing or gloves. This will be done at the rider’s own risk.
  10. A watch is NOT permitted
    No other receiving, recording, transmitting or monitoring devices may be used during any phase of any event. 
    Competitors are NOT permitted to take mobile phones onto the cross country course when competing. 
    Head Cams will not be permitted on any part of the horse or rider at any time.
  11. Starting times will be allocated. COMPETITORS WILL RUN IN ALLOCATED TIME ORDER.
    Competitors must report to the steward 15 minutes before their given start time.
    Failure to do so may incur elimination.
  12. Riders falling on the cross country course will be eliminated and must leave the course, immediately.
    Fallers, anywhere on site, must see a Paramedic before remounting to start the competition or before leaving the site.
  13. In the event of elimination on the course, for reasons other than a fall of the horse or fall of the rider, competitors may proceed but shall not obstruct other competitors.
  14. A competitor may not, under penalty of elimination, compete on a horse that has practised over any of the obstacles to be used on the course for the five days prior to the competition.
  15. DOGS MUST BE KEPT IN A SHORT LEAD AT ALL TIMES including whilst walking the cross country course.
  16. The organisers reserve the right in the light of prevailing circumstances to cancel the event, alter classes, Judges, times, prize money or any other published information.
  17. In all cases the Judge's decision is final. Any objection shall be accompanied by a deposit of £20 and within half an hour of the incident. The deposit will be returned only if the objection is upheld.
  18. In the event of any dispute, which cannot be satisfactorily resolved, the BVRC may, at its option, agree to a full or partial refund of the competitor’s entry fees. For the avoidance of doubt claims for consequential liability, expenses or other payments shall in no circumstances be accepted.
  19. Refund of entry fees, less the booking fee and a small admin charge to cover non-recoverable costs, will be made up to 28 days after the event, in the following circumstances:
    Either prior to close of entries or after close of entries on production of a vet or doctor's certificate (within 7 days of event) or cancellation of event.
    Transfer of entries may only be requested prior to closing date.
  20. Medical facilities may be limited to standard NHS accident & emergency callout.
  21. Any veterinary services utilised (including horse transportation, accommodation or legal disposal of deceased animals) shall be charged to and paid by the competitor. The BVRC does not guarantee that there will be immediate access to a veterinary services or a horse ambulance on the showground, unless otherwise stated. 
  22. Any farrier services utilised shall be charged to and paid for by the competitor. Unless otherwise stated, the BVRC does not guarantee that there will be immediate access to a farrier on the showground.
  23. BVRC does not guarantee that the showground is a secure site or that the showground perimeter cannot be breached by runaway animals. It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure, so far as is possible, that runaways cannot occur.
  24. The BVRC’s responsibility for runaway animals shall be limited to informing the local civil or military police. All costs incurred in any recovery including the cost of any damages incurred during the incident shall be charged to & paid by the competitor.
