ARENA EVENTING FORMAT
Competitors will jump a course of show jumps immediately followed by cross country fences. The total number of fences will not exceed 20 in each class. The optimum time will be based on the British Eventing speed for the relevant level, as agreed with the course designer depending upon the size and terrain of the arena.

SCORING
4 penalties will be added for knocking a pole down, one stop at a show jump also gives 4 penalties, two equals 8 penalties and a total of 3 refusals will incur elimination. For the Cross-Country phase one stop incurs 20 penalties, two stops incur 40 penalties and a third stop is elimination. Every commenced second in excess of the optimum time incurs a 0.4 penalty. Every commenced second under the optimum time also incurs a 0.4 penalty. A fall of horse or rider incurs elimination.

NATIONAL PONY SOCIETY QUALIFICATION
Classes 37, 38 & 39 are qualifiers for the NPS ARENA EVENTING CHALLENGE FINAL. The Final will be held at Kelsall Hill EC on Sunday 19th September. The final is open to mares, geldings and stallions four years old and over, in possession of an equine passport but no specific registration or breed society criteria. Ponies’ manes may be plaited at competitor discretion. Qualification will be gained by achieving a top 10 placing or a double clear in a qualifying class. Qualification will be confirmed by the NPS Office. Riders may only ride one pony in each class at the final. Only ponies owned by NPS members (Life, Qualifying or Performance) can qualify for the final.
