Age badges Horse/Pony age badges should be worn in all classes. Age badges can be ordered directly from VHS Head Office. A limited supply will be available for purchase from the Show Secretary on the day.
Open to members and non-members, however NON MEMBERS to purchase Day Membership Show Card for this show. Day membership must be purchased from VHS head office at least 2 weeks in advance of the show, at a cost of £20. Payment by telephone and a Credit or Debit card is required. A day membership show card and age badge will be provided. Owners who are not competing are not required to be a member.
All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification.
Members and Day members must carry their current VHS membership card in the ring and produce these on request – no exceptions will be made. No card no entry or qualification.

VHS Supreme Final qualification. Competitors placed 1st and 2nd in each class will also qualify directly for their corresponding class at the VHS Supreme Final, to be held at the National Veteran Championships. (V.O.Y.S.) 1st – 3rd October 2021, Arena UK, Grantham, Lincolnshire.
VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 3rd and 4th in each class will qualify for their corresponding class at any VHS Regional Finals. VHS M&M Supreme Final qualification. Will be to the highest placed M&M in each class to qualify for the VHS M&M Supreme Final at the National Veteran Championships. Show Card to be signed. (This is only given at the judge’s discretion)
1. This show is run in accordance with Veteran Horse Society rules. Please refer to VHS Rulebook. 2. By entering any class at this show, the competitor agrees to abide by all aspects of Veteran Horses Society rules, including those in the VHS Rulebook and those explicitly outlined in this schedule, included Covid track & trace. 3. Exhibitors under the age of 18 must have the declaration on the entry form signed by a parent/guardian. 4. Failure to observe any of the rules may result in disqualification of the horse/pony concerned and/or the Exhibitor may be requested to leave the showground. 5. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to fully insure their personal property and animals for which they are responsible whilst on the Showground. Exhibitors are required to have liability insurance cover for their exhibits whilst at the show. 6. Behaviour of an offensive, abusive or unpleasant manner to any person on the Showground will not be tolerated. Any person found to be doing so will be asked to leave the Showground with their exhibits immediately. They may be subject to the VHS disciplinary procedure and all entry/stabling fees, prizes etc. will be forfeited. 7. No person shall ill-treat any animal at any time whether by misuse/excessive use of a whip, bit, item of tack/saddlery or in any other way whatsoever. A Welfare Officer will always be present at the show ground. 8. All exhibitors are asked to be aware of animals on the Showground and ensure that all exhibits are fit and well. If anybody has reason to believe that a horse/pony is unfit, they must report this to the organisers immediately. 9. All horses to be accompanied by a valid equine passport which must be produced upon request. 10. Entry fees are non-refundable after the close of entries in any circumstance. Requests for refunds prior to this date must be made in writing to the Show Secretary together with a valid veterinary or medical certificate. 11. Entries will not be accepted without full payment. 12. Cheques are not acceptable, unless permission is granted from Head Office and must be received 3 weeks prior to the show. 13. Competitor numbers can be collected from the Show Secretary on the day. 14. Horse/Pony age badges should be worn in all classes. These can be ordered from VHS Head Office. A limited supply will be available for purchase from the Show Secretary on the day. 15. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry at the discretion of a VHS Director. 16. The organisers reserve the right to limit entries, change, cancel, split or amalgamate classes as they see fit. 17. The organisers take cannot be held responsible where a competitor has entered more than one class and a clash occurs. Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to allow competitors to compete in both, this may not always be possible. The judge’s decision is final. 18. It is mandatory for all riders to wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved BSI or European standard (except for side-saddle exhibits where SSA rules apply). 19. Hat disclaimer - Any competitor aged 18 or over wishing to wear other headgear during a class may do so at entirely their own risk. A disclaimer must be signed by the competitor and given to the Show Secretary 1 hour before the class begins. 20. Body Protectors may be worn. 21. Motorbikes and quad bikes are not be permitted on the Showground. 22. Bicycles and scooters must not be ridden near rings or horses. 23. Buggies and mobility vehicles may not be driven around the show, unless an exemption has been granted in writing by the organisers. Only exhibitors with a medical disability will be granted dispensation. All persons must be over 18 years of age and have a valid licence and appropriate insurance. 24. Dogs are always to be kept under control and on a lead. Loose dogs will be impounded and will not be released until a payment of £40 is made. Owners are to clean up after their dog. Any person found to disregard this rule will be fined £40. All payments will be donated directly to Veteran Equine Trust: 1104072 25. The organisers do not accept any liability for any accident, injury, loss, damage or illness to any riders, handlers, spectators, horses, ponies or to any property whatsoever and howsoever caused. 26. Handlers of a lead rein are not required to be Day or Full Members for the Direct Qualifier. 27. To enter Classes 1F – 6F no qualification is necessary but Full or Day Membership is required 14 days prior to the Show
Covid-19 Additional Special Measures We are all in this together – help control the virus. Arena UK and the VHS have put in place special measures to maintain social distancing to protect you and others whilst at the National Veteran Championships. All of us attending the show, whether as a competitor, a helper or an official, have a responsibility to protect ourselves and others. We must all work together to ensure that the rules are adhered to and we can have an enjoyable, positive experience and go home safely. By entering the show, you agree that you and all other members of your party will follow the signage, adhere to the rules and comply with any requests made by officials at the event. We thank you in advance for your full cooperation. Government guidelines regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and social distancing are subject to change. Updated rules and guidance for our event will be posted on the Veteran Horse Society website in the lead up to the show. It is your responsibility to ensure you read these updates and if you are unable to comply with the rules/guidelines, you must not travel to or attend the event. • If any of the following apply to you or a member of your party, you must not attend the show: o You feel unwell. o You have a new continuous cough. o You have a high temperature. o You are experiencing a loss of or change in sense of smell or taste (anosmia). o You are self-isolating for any reason, including having had contact with someone with symptoms or a positive Covid- 19 result, or returning from abroad from a non-exempt country. o You been asked to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace service. See government guidance: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance • Test and Trace: You must provide contact details for you and your party and by doing so, you consent to these being shared with NHS Test and Trace if required. • Temperature checks: Temperature checks will be carried out at the showground. Anybody found to have a high temperature will not be allowed onto the showground or, if already on site, will be asked to leave immediately. • Toilets and wash facilities: Competitors should provide and use their own toilet and wash facilities in their vehicle where possible. There are no on site showers will have restricted opening times. Toilets must be sanitised before and after use by all users. Sanitising products will be provided but you are advised to bring your own. Please ensure that you wash your hands before and after using the facilities. • Social Distancing: Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to at all times. Stay at least 2 metrse away from people not in your household/bubble. This includes travelling to the show, at the ring side, warm up arenas, in the buildings, stable blocks, and horsebox park. • Face coverings: Please use face coverings where possible. These must be used when visiting the Show Office and inside the buildings. • Show Office: Please avoid coming to the Show Office unless essential. If you have any urgent queries, please call or email the office. Late entries can be made on the day by card payment. Late entry fee applies. No cash or paper entries on the day.• Class Switches: Unfortunately it will not be possible to accommodate class switches this year and classes will not be held for missing or late competitors. • Withdrawals: Please advise the office at the earliest opportunity if you wish to withdraw from any class. This may affect presentation of prizes and eligibility for Championships. • Classes may be stripped. This includes Regional Final and Supreme Final classes. Grooms will not be required, or permitted, in the ring. Confirmation of this will be released on social media and the website. • Anybody not adhering to the rules will be asked to leave the showground, forfeiting all entry fees, prizes and stabling costs.
