New skills – new insights - re-educate the mind and body in order to achieve greater balance, harmony and communication with your horse. In my coaching - based on 'classical horsemanship' - I aim to give you the tools and correct map to ride in balance, use your core strength correctly and to sit easily and naturally. Sit in a way that helps your horse to move underneath you with ease. The correct posture on a horse and the correct use of the body whilst riding is the most essential basis for riding - truly a prerequisite for the health of both horse and rider. We cannot not influence the horse.... everything is connected to everything... I've trained with Mary Wanless - The International biomechanics coach/Author and 'Ride with Your Mind' founder for over 15 years. "The solutions to problems are based on increasing the rider's understanding of what 'is', building reliance on clear perceptions instead of on a mental concept of how it 'ought to be'. (Mary Wanless) It is my belief that there are many ways of riding but there's only one that is functional - balanced and free of tension. We often feel at home with our bad habits and the other problem is that many of us have no idea which habits are functional and which nonfunctional. My coaching is to help improve this; how to use the body in the most natural co-ordinated way to free up any tension. Tension is a big deal. You can have tension from incomplete technique and tension from anxiety and lack of belief. I love the Buddhist saying: "The body is the heavy part of the mind".
