Run under SSA rules defined in the current Members’ Handbook. Open to SSA Junior Members and Non-Members aged under 18 on 1st January of the current year. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd place and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Manor Grange Stud Show Centre offer a rosette to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Hats to current Safety Standards or above must be worn

Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd place and SSA Championship Points. The highest placed Rider aged 45 years or over receives a Special Rosette kindly sponsored by Constance, Lady Bayliss A rosette in memory of The Late Mr R Philpot is offered to the Adult Member, judged to be the best turned out.

Special rosettes to all Juniors who have not competed side saddle before.

Area Show Points Awards
To the Adult and Junior Area 5 Member of the SSA gaining the most points at this Show, the 2021 Area 5 Novice Training Show, Spring Show at the H.O.P.E Show, Pre-Championship Show and Masters Show on the same horse/pony.
Points will be awarded as follows:
6 points for first place, 5 points for second place and so on down to1 point for sixth place To be presented at the Area 5 2021 AGM.

Sheila Rowland Master Class Final
The four highest placed ADULT riders in Class 2 will qualify for the Sheila Rowland Masters class Final to be held at the Area 5 Autumn Show to be held in September 2021. Qualification may go down to 6th place in the event of previously qualified competitors.

Terms & Conditions
COVID-19 OBSERVANCE:
It is the responsibility of anyone attending, in any capacity, to observe the social distancing and protective wear measures in existence on the day along with any other instructions that the Government may have issued.

These Equitation Classes are qualifiers for the 2021 National Show. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the following will apply:

1. Each rider will be given an individual time.
2. On entering the ring (individual go-round) the rider will show Walk on one rein, Trot and Canter on both reins.
3. Each rider will then give a show lasting no more than 2 minutes.
4. The turnout of horse and rider will be inspected by the Judge at a distance of at least a metre.
5. The Judge will then give her observations to the rider (no paper critique), discuss and invite the rider to ride the movements that need to be improved.
6. Results and Rosettes. Results will be emailed to all competitors and the rosettes forwarded to the winners.
7. The Judge will ask competitors to show their Points Card from a safe distance to establish they are current Members. The card will not be signed, riders are asked to fill in their points cards themselves once the results are announced.
Safety hats to current safety standards as defined in Rules 11 and 12 below must be worn whilst mounted by all Junior competitors at all times. For all other classes see Rule 12 (Adults) below.

Rules 1. All classes shall be ridden side saddle 2. Classes may be divided for the purposes of preliminary judging if numbers require 3. Judges’ decisions are final 4. Entries close 6th September 2020. LATE ENTRIES will be accepted if classes are not already full, at an additional cost of £5.00 each. 5. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry and to alter, amalgamate or cancel classes 6. All dogs to be on non-extending leads 7. There will be no ambulance in attendance although there will be trained First Aiders on the showground 8. All competitors and those in attendance are reminded of their individual responsibilities with regard to Health & Safety, not only to themselves but others on the show ground. This responsibility extends to safe parking of vehicles and management of horses/ponies 9. No responsibility will be accepted by SSA Area 5 or Manor Farm for any accident howsoever it is caused 10. FALLS: A fall of horse/pony or rider in any class run under Side Saddle Association rules will result in disqualification, and the rider must leave the ring dismounted. It is strongly recommended that medical advice is then sought before competing in any other class. 11. JUNIOR COMPETITORS (SSA Members or Non SSA Members): MUST have attained their 5th birthday and be under 18 on 1st January of the current year and MUST wear a correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards in all classes affiliated to or run by the SSA: All PAS 015; VG1; (BS)EN1384 2017; ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2-17; AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards. In addition the new BS/EN standard will be allowed, once approved with the finalised number being advised in due course. 11.1. A Spur or Spur band is not permitted to be worn by a Junior in any class where jumping is involved. 12. ADULT COMPETITORS (SSA Members or Non SSA Members): MUST be aged 18 or over on 1st January of the current year and MUST wear a correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hat that meets one of the following current Safety Standards where indicated in the competition rules: All PAS 015; VG1; (BS)EN1384 2017; ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; SNELL E2-17; AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards. In addition the new BS/EN standard will be allowed, once approved with the finalised number being advised in due course Where safety hats are not compulsory, Adult competitors wear alternative headgear at their own risk. 13. LEAD REIN COMPETITORS (SSA Members or Non SSA Members): may only compete Hors Concours in any SSA affiliated class EXCEPT the Best Horse/Pony Class and in a Junior or Open Equitation Qualifying Class. In an Equitation Class, they are not eligible for SSA place rosettes but should be considered for the Turnout Rosette. Leaders must be correctly dressed. 14. QUALIFIERS: Shows held up to and including the first day of the 2020 National Side Saddle Show will be Qualifiers for 2020. Shows held after that date will be Qualifiers for the following year.
