Entry qualifications: to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members a) For horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 125 points. Four Double Clears will qualify - in accordance with Rule 316.6. b) For all horses born on or after 1 January 2016 irrespective of points. Horses will only be eligible for double clear qualification to Second Rounds if they reach the age of four years or under in the same calendar year as the British Novice Final - in accordance with Rule 316.6. Qualifies for: Senior British Novice Championship - Second Round. Numbers to qualify: Those horses which jump a clear round in the first round, followed by a clear round in the jump-off, in at least four British Novice First Round competitions held in any qualifying period will qualify to compete in the British Novice Second Rounds, irrespective of their placings for prize money in those competitions, which will be determined by the normal Table A rules (Rule 191). Horses in the class must go in to the jump-off and go clear to gain a double clear round qualification. If combined with an open: In Category 1 Shows and in the event of 30 starters or more the Open and the British Novice section will be split with two sets of prize money awarded. In Category 2 Shows the sections must always be split with two sets of prize money awarded, irrespective of starters. Withdrawals/Refunds

Affiliated shows are required to repay 50 % of the entry fees in respect of all entry cancellations which are received by the Show Organiser not later than 48 hours before noon of the day on which the first affiliated competition of the show is scheduled to start except in those circumstances outlined in Rule 79.5.

Terms & Conditions

This show is subject to COVID-19 restrictions, please read the Terms & Conditions below. 

Competitors must NOT attend Bishop Burton College if they:
• Have been instructed to self-isolate by NHS 111 or NHS Tract & Trace
• Are in a household that is self-isolating
• Have shown any of the following symptoms in the last 14 days:
o A new continuous cough
o An elevated temperature/fever above 37.8c
o A loss of smell or taste
• Have come into contact with anyone with a confirmed case of Covid-19 without wearing appropriate medical-grade PPE.

Restrictions are in place following Covid-19 guidelines. Please be aware of signage and follow instructions given by staff members.

All entries MUST be in advance. No entries or additional classes will be accepted on the day. Only the competing rider plus ONE helper per horse/pony to a maximum of six persons. No extra vehicles, spectators and extended family will be allowed on site. All tacking up and preparation of horses must take place within your designated parking area.

Warm up, cool down
A maximum of 12 riders are allowed in the jumping warm up at one time. Riders should always maintain a distance of five horse lengths apart from other competitors. Please do not lean over or hang coats, bags etc on fences or other structures. No Trainers or Coaches allowed in Warm Up. 

The Competition
One competitor to be in the ring at any one time. Classes will run strictly to time allocation order. All competitions to be run as single phase. After cooling down riders must immediately return to their designated parking area to untack. No prize-giving will take place. Results will be read out and Results will be posted online. Prize money will be paid via BACS. 

Venue
Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the venue. Please use it on a regular basis. Take away food and drinks will be available from an outdoor service area. Please observe Covid-19 distancing rules on queuing and move away immediately you have been served. Always maintain Social distancing. The main office will be out of bounds to everyone. Ensure you pick up your horse poo and hay from the car park, using YOUR OWN Equipment. Bring YOUR OWN WATER for washing down and buckets. Toilets will be available, but please use your own facilities if you can.

Anyone found to be disregarding these rules will be asked to leave.

General Terms and Conditions:
These Terms and Conditions apply to all competitors and spectators and must be adhered to at all times. Entry into any competition, including the hire of the Centre, shall be deemed an acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

  • Bishop Burton College reserves the right to refuse entry/hire/stable booking without stating the reason, to cancel or amend competitions or classes in any way and all rights of admission.
  • Bishop Burton College does not accept any responsibility or liability for any injury, accident, damage or illness to any person, property or animal whatsoever, or for any loss whatsoever, arising out of, or occurring at any competition, show or event. It shall be a condition of entry/hire of the Centre that each entrant shall indemnify the organisers against any legal action whatsoever arising from any accident.
  • A British Standard approved hard hat must be worn when riding or leading the horse.
  • For all competitions, the judge’s decision is final. At all times, all competitors and other visitors must adhere to all instructions given by stewards/staff.
  • It is the owners/rider’s responsibility to ensure that horses/ponies are the correct height for their class.
  • The Collecting Ring area is for the purpose of warming up. It is strictly not a viewing or standing area, nor is it to be used by anyone other than those entered in the current class.
  • Bishop Burton College reserves the right to alter any schedule at any time without prior notice.
  • Closing dates for all shows may be altered if the classes are full.
  • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • All rubbish must be disposed of in the bins provided. Lorries/trailers are not to be skipped out onto the car park.
  • Horses and/or ponies must not be left unattended at any time when tied outside horseboxes or trailers.
  • Dogs are welcome onsite but must be kept on a lead at all times. Waste is to be disposed of in the bins provided.
  • All accidents must be reported, and an accident report completed at the main office.
  • Photographs and live streaming will be taken at events by a professional, licenced photographer/videographer who has been approved. Bishop Burton College reserves the right to use these photographs for advertising purposes to promote future events. No other photographers are permitted to photograph the event. Please note that if you are not happy to be photographed or filmed at an event, you need to tell the show office immediately.
  • Any person causing any damage, disruption or unwanted behaviour will be asked to leave the premises and will not be permitted to participate any further in the show.
  • Bishop Burton College use Equine Affaires as their chosen event administration system. Entry form details will be added to this system to inform competitors that their entries have been received. If competitors do not wish for this information to be shared with our chosen entry system, then we will not be able to process and accept your entry.
  • All persons entering onto Bishop Burton College, by virtue of admission, agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the General Rules of the Competition.


Equine Influenza Vaccinations: Primary vaccinations with an in-date 12-month booster. Spot checks will be carried out.

Bishop Burton College has taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the officials and stewards.

Please be respectful to our staff and officials, they are working to keep everyone safe and the sport to recommence.
