BHS Members Day 

*Special Guest Speaker - Dr David Marlin*

The British Horse Society Welcomes members to a social day at The National Stud, Newmarket. The day starts at 9.30 with tea and coffee, and a warm welcome by BHS Volunteers and the Regional Manager. 

We will enjoy hearing from BHS Directors Alan Hiscox & Mark Weston. Alan will be speaking about our quest to improve rider safety, and Mark will explain what 2026 means and how we can improve our off road riding. Janice Wyatt will enlighten those of us up for a challenge!

Our special guest speaker, Dr David Marlin, will speak about the threats to the competition/modern horse. David's main areas of professional interest are exercise physiology, nutrition, fitness, training, performance, thermoregulation competition strategy, transport and respiratory disease. From 1990 until 2005 David held the position of Senior Scientist and Head of Physiology at the Animal Health Trust. David has worked as a consultant to the British Equestrian Teams since 1994 and has worked in conjunction with the FEI on key subjects at the Atlanta and Beijing Olympic Games. 

We will also enjoy a sociable lunch and tour of the stud. How lovely to see the new season's foals in the Spring!

The cost of this day has been subsidised by the BHS East Committee, so places are £15/£20 with donation to BHS. Donations to the BHS will be spent on local projects in the East. 

The tour of the stud will be at approximately 3.15pm and the day should finish around 4pm.

This event is for BHS Members only. You will be asked for your membership number during this booking form which we must have in order for you to attend the day. Each ticket entitles the holder to lunch, the talk and tour of the national stud on the tour bus. In the event that you cannot make it, there are no refunds. There may be a waiting list for places, so if your place can be taken by someone on this list you will be refunded. You are of course very welcome to sell your ticket on to a friend if you can't come, just let us know who is coming instead of you.
