This seminar is aimed at all SSA members as well as Judges, Instructors and Examiners. The afternoon session provides everyone to be able to have a “say”

Morning: 9:15 am Meet and Greet.
10:15 Indoor arena. Welcome from Ginny Oakley Pope Area 5 Chairman
Side Saddle jumping from Novice to Experienced. How to do it, how to improve it and how to feel confident doing it! All lessons in consultation with Roger Philpot.
10.30 Training the Novice Horse and Rider over fences. Instructor Ginny Oakley Pope
11.15. Progressing the training of the rider over fences. Instructors Fran Penn, Peta Roberts
12.00 Lesson 3. The Open Adult Equitation Jumping Rider. How it is judged and what to look for when training and teaching to improve the rider and the horse. Instructors Fran Penn and Peta Roberts.
12.45 Lunch.
1.30 Table Discussions: Guest speakers: Peta Roberts, Dale Atkinson, Vanessa Hood, Fran Penn, Janet Ward and Ginny Oakley Pope
3.00 End of seminar. Refreshments available.

Morning sessions are focused totally on jumping from the first time side saddle jumping rider to the Adult Open Equitation rider. Each session looks at ways to improve harmony and softness and the correct position and balance needed to jump side saddle. To include also: training techniques for confidence and improving the schooling of the horse to aid with jumping side saddle.

The unique afternoon session is set up to provide all the delegates with the opportunity to discuss different topics in small groups with a guest speaker at each table. The guest speakers will move around the tables so each group covers each subject. The results of each discussion will be summarised at the end.
