PARKING & REGISTRATION

Parking is in the first half of the car park, furthest from the main building.  You will have received your route and instructions via email. If you have not returned your disclaimer via email, please leave it in the box by the front door.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Centre takes the safety of its staff, volunteers, horses, RDA riders and visitors very seriously.  The Centre has taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone present on its premises.  A copy of the health and safety policy is available on request and it is important that you familiarise yourself with it prior to coming to the Centre.  In order to maintain the safety and wellbeing of everyone whilst they are on the Centre’s premises the health and safety policy needs to be observed and all reasonable precautions must be taken to avoid and prevent accidents occurring.  For the avoidance of doubt, the instructions of the Centre’s staff must be strictly obeyed at all times.

Covid-19 Update: Please note that the building is currently closed. It would be best if you did not use the toilet, but if you need to use the toilets they are available to left of the main entrance adjacent to the stable. Please wipe down all surfaces with the cleaning equipment provided.

MINORS

The Centre does not permit any child under the age of 18 years of age to conduct any hacking on its premises without their parent or legal guardian confirming their pre-assessed horse riding abilities and acknowledging responsibility for the associated risk (to extent permitted by law).  For avoidance of doubt, the Centre shall require the parent or legal guardian of any child under the age of 18 years of age to sign the terms and conditions for use of the hacking facility.

INSURANCE

The Centre requires that all riders coming to the Centre to use the hacking facility must hold their own personal public liability insurance (covering horse riding and hacking in particular) with no less than £[2,000,000] public liability cover.  Please note that we require the insurer’s name & policy number to be provided on arrival prior to use of the hacking facility and may also request a copy (or sight) of the insurance policy.

EQUIPMENT

You must bring your own water and buckets for your horse to have a drink or to wash down at the end of the ride, as well as a fully charged mobile phone in case of emergencies.

Please ensure that you have saved the Centre’s contact number before setting off – 0117 959 0266

COMMENCING THE HACK

You may wish to start in the Woodland, which is accessible from the car park, to the left hand side (if the main building is behind you).  Wherever you choose to start, you must come out in the same place you enter, into the car park and then cross to the Canter Track.  Only walk and trot is permitted in the Woodland.

The full Hacking Track begins with the Canter Track, which is accessible from the car park, on the right hand side (if the main building is behind you).  Please be aware that the Canter Track does end quite quickly going both ways so ensure you are in a steady, controlled canter along this track.

The Canter Track leads you to a gateway and along a track, downhill to another gateway into the fields. Routes are arrowed as follows:

All routes – BLUE

Direct route – RED

Longer route – GREEN

The Green routes connect back to the Red route.  It is important that you remain on the tracks which have been cut. There are some parts of the fields which are rough ground or wetlands, to avoid these you must ride the designated tracks.

The final field (at bottom of hill) will direct you back the way you came, through the fields to return to the Canter Track.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Several of the fields are located near the M5 motorway or a freight railway line (please see the map).  The railway line normally only operates a few times a day, .  Those fields can be avoided by taking the RED (direct) route.

YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE ANY OF THE JUMPS THAT MAY BE FOUND IN THE FIELDS. .

If you meet any other horses and riders during your hack, you MUST slow to a walk AS SOON AS they are in sight.  The Centre endeavours to avoid different hacks being performed at the same time, however, from time to time RDA riders are taken outside the main building and it is imperative that they and their horses are not startled.  Any failure to observe this requirement will result in the immediate termination of the hack and your removal from the Centre’s premises.

Payment Details & Event Fees

£7 per horse / rider (maximum of 5 riders/horses in a group)
