Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh).
To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners & way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse & rider, by a SHBGB, BSHA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA Panel Judge.

Side Saddle Costume Concours D’élégance
The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider.
Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required.
Fancy dress or period costume is NOT permitted.
Riders must be 16 years or older.
Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays.
A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards.

Directions: Privet Lane, near Redenham Park is located on A342, mid-way between Weyhill and Ludgershall, and approximately 2 miles from the centre of each village. Approaching from the Weyhill direction, the show entrance will be on the right hand side. Turn right into Privet Lane. Turn left into the show site.

DO NOT TAKE THE ENTRANCE SIGNED REDENHAM PARK (HOUSE ONLY).

Terms & Conditions

Health & Safety Policy: The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health & safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and shall obey the instructions of the organiser, and all officials & stewards. 

Competition Notes: 
For the avoidance of doubt, competitors shall understand that the rules and conditions of entry (listed below) are the sole terms under which the Bourne Valley Riding Club (BVRC) organises competitions. Competitors shall not enter BVRC events unless they have read, understood and fully accepted these terms. 

BVRC General Rules & Conditions of Entry 

1. All classes will be run in accordance with current Official Rules for British Riding Clubs' Competitions. 
2. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that neither the organisers nor land owners nor their agents shall be held responsible for any loss, injury, damage to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants or horses or ponies, howsoever caused. 
3. Competitors shall be 16 years of age or older at the closing date for entry. 
4. Anyone who is competing, exercising, handling or responsible for a horse and is not a British Riding Clubs (BRC) member must have their own third party insurance. 
5. Horses and ponies shall be 4 years of age or older for all ridden competitions, at the closing date for entry. 
6. Horses may be ridden once only in each class apart from PYO dressage in which entry is restricted to once only in each test. 
7. Everyone mounted, whether or not a competitor, shall wear correct riding clothes, which must include ‘Protective Headwear’, with a harness properly adjusted and fastened. Failure to do so will incur elimination.
‘Protective Headwear’ constitutes a hat meeting one of the following standards:
British PAS 015:1998 or 2011 } Provided they are BSI Kitemarked
European VG1 01.040: 2014-12 } or Inspec IC marked
American ASTM F1163:2004a or 04a onwards Provided they are SEI SNELL E2001 and SNELL E2016 mark
Australian & New Zealand AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards Provided they are SAI Global marked
Skullcaps must be worn with an appropriate coloured silk.
Side Saddle riders must wear protective headwear, as shown above, eith a harness properly adjusted and fastened.  Bowler or Top hats are not permitted. 
8. Long riding boots, designed for riding, or short riding boots with either gaiters of same leather and colour or suede half chaps, of identical colour to the boots and with no decoration or tassels of any sort, are to be worn.
Dressage Gloves are compulsory.
Show Jumping/Working Hunter Body protectors are strongly recommended.
9. Hair must be neatly secured and MUST not hang lower than the shoulder line when standing normally.
Jewellery including body piercing components and therapeutic medical devices (wristbands) must be removed. If removal is not possible, items must be covered up by clothing or gloves. This will be done at the rider’s own risk.  
10. When specific times have been allocated, competitors must report to the steward 10 minutes before their given start time. Failure to do so may incur elimination.

11. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the Showground.
12. The organisers reserve the right in the light of prevailing circumstances to cancel the event, alter classes, Judges, times, prize money or any other published information. 
13. In all cases the Judge's decision is final. Any objection shall be accompanied by a deposit of £20 and within half an hour of the incident. The deposit will be returned only if the objection is upheld. 
14. In the event of any dispute, which cannot be satisfactorily resolved, the BVRC may, at its option, agree to a full or partial refund of the competitor’s entry fees. For the avoidance of doubt claims for consequential liability, expenses or other payments shall in no circumstances be accepted. 
15. Refunds or transfer of entry fees will only be made after close of entries, on production of a vet or doctor's certificate, except in the event of cancellation when all fees will be refunded less a small proportion to cover non-recoverable costs. 
16. Medical facilities will be limited to standard NHS accident & emergency callout, unless it is explicitly stated otherwise. 
17. Any veterinary services utilised (including horse transportation, accommodation or legal disposal of deceased animals) shall be charged to and paid by the competitor. The BVRC does not guarantee that there will be immediate access to a veterinary services or a horse ambulance on the showground, unless otherwise stated. 
18. Any farrier services utilised shall be charged to and paid for by the competitor. Unless otherwise stated, the BVRC does not guarantee that there will be immediate access to a farrier on the showground. 
19. BVRC does not guarantee that the showground is a secure site or that the showground perimeter cannot be breached by runaway animals. It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure, so far as is possible, that runaways cannot occur. 
20. The BVRC’s responsibility for runaway animals shall be limited to informing the local civil or military police. All costs incurred in any recovery including the cost of any damages incurred during the incident shall be charged to & paid by the competitor.
