I'm currently based at Sharola Stud in Hertford. I can take on selling, training & competition
liveries short or long term. Young and difficult horses are a speciality; also nervous riders.
I started my professional career in Show Jumping and now compete in British Dressage. I've ridden
at National level & train regularly with Anna Ross Davies.
Teaching is also my passion. I can do individual lessons; £25 for half an hour depending on the
area. Clinics can also be arranged.

After Rusty's win I've been working on our half passes and of course the walk!
But I couldn't resist a few changes which then sent him silly for days! I went
to Dan Sheriffs to clip Ferrari who was representing GB in Samur with Amy Witkin on the pony team.
Victoria and Hayley brought the lovely Harry over for me to ride he went
super such a star in the making. Austin had a jump too. It's been non stop
selling to and I'm happy to say we've sold four!! So now horse shopping again for more projects.
I've taken a pony on loan for Emily and Josh called Nipper, luckily he doesn't
live up to his name biteing but is forward.
Rusty went for Inter County try outs where he showed off his changes and bucks with out being asked!
We have been asked to go for the test riding though so no changes
now till I've got my qualifying points at Medium. I do think I have web
feet now due to all this rain!

I've moved yards again last time for a while I hope! I am now based at East Herts EC which
is super, indoor, outdoor schools and a walker so very happy. I've gone into business with
www.austindartonequestrian.co.uk
and have some really super horses to sell please look on our website.
Back riding five to seven horses a day I'm very happy! I am still teaching lots so busy days.
Yesterday we took four to Bury Farm which was great fun. Camarbol was 10th, Escopology
won his section, Bev was a bit star struck in the big indoor but strutted her
stuff once relaxed. Rusty did his first mediums. The first test he piaffed in the walk
pirouettes which got us 3rd. The second test we walked and won! I'm so happy and proud of
him especially as he didn't try and do any changes! Me and all four horses were tired today!
Big thank you to Jackie Day for lending me her black hat too. Kids back to school this week too yeah !

The last two weeks have been full on and fun. Lots of teaching and riding in the sun which has been great.
I went for my lesson at Patchetts thinking I'd be doing half passes ect but we went straight on to our
changes which were exciting. After nearly kicking out the gallery window a few times I had to do them
in the middle of the school!
After mucking out eight Saturday by 8am I drove up to Keysoe to groom for
Sarah Thomas at the under 25 show. Both Rilley and Marinetty scrubed up well and looked very smart for
their tests. I got to have a drive in the Oakley which was an automatic, I've never driven one of the before.
The next day back up at 6.30am driving over to Widmer Farm for a 8.30am start clinic. Still don't no why the
clocks have to change! Super lessons no one fell off and all had improved since i was last there. Then
drive cross country to Keysoe to get the boys ready again. Both got placed each day so a good show.
Monday was a full day teaching my clients as leaving for Anna's on the Tuesday.
Yvone and Romeo came over in the morning and off we went to Wiltshire. Karen lent me her box as Linda needed mine, I have
to say we did 70mph alot which was great! First lesson was very excitable as changes again, all the
other clients kept saying is he always this mad? Anna's responsonse was this is calm!
Kate getting to grips with the Gym ball & Rusty's rather enthusiastic changes!
The next day we did more exercises on the changes as we could'nt walk to counter canter at all today so had to do them
somewhere different. Your horse magazine came down too and did an article on being nervous, I put
Yvone forward as she was very nervous in her first lesson. Romeo posed well for the camera.
Day three was pole work haha! After trying to get Rusty over a pole for the last six years he did it! I was so
pleased we went over it I then went to do five trot poles, he jumped the lot then got the hang of it.
Yvone and Jane carried on to do a cross pole well as we were all in dressage saddles. Lance Plunkett
the eventer then said your not going to do it are you Kate? Of course we may be very liviely but
I've got him over a pole and he jumped it. Next was a cross pole to little upright, again we did it well!
But we did then loose the plot so out we went to try and relax.
Jon Pitts came that evening to do a talk on fit to ride. This was brilliant I have to say and I am
useless on a gym ball untill I'd had a few wines. The next day we had video analysis whilst
we rode all on our straightness etc and
was given ball exercises to. Then another lesson changes on center line this time heading to the
board as he was shooting off after. I did get told off for swinging him into them too like a show
jumper, no hiding on a straight line.
After five days of canter work i think we beat the Rusty, he was a little bit tired but we got super
changes on the serpentine line which was amazing so
I'm very happy.

Last week I went to Myscough premier league with Altogether Dressage, the day after
the big manor house burnt down on their yard. Thankfully all the horses and stables etc are fine.
Anna rode Wellington in the PSG this was his first show at 11years old! He held it together on
day one and came 4th, once he has more ring practice he will be amazing. Jane Bell's Lara
did well in the 5 year old class and Sarah Thomas rode her new horse Marinetti in the under
21's this horse is a real gent to do. Roland Tong came with us too and won the Inter 2
so worth the 5 hour journey there and back!
I have to say after a fun filled week away I was tired on Monday! Rusty greeted me in his
usual way when I've been away by biting me to tell me off! Shelly had the pleasure
of looking after him for me and went through her initiation on day one, couldn't catch
him in the stable! It was fab to be back on Rusty and Cam they both have gone super this week.
I have to congratulate some of my clients who also had a winning weekend.
Kath with Wilbor went to their first BD show and won! Jackie and Fellow
won their music with over 70%. Charlotte and Charlie became show jumping
champions at the Chiltern & Thames final! This was a fantastic result as
Charlie was only bought 8 months ago and Charlotte has little jumping experience
so it proves hard work pays off. Romeo has been behaving at home too and
started jumping. I've a lesson on Wednesday so practice half pass, shoulder
in, the next few days then a 5 day intense training course the week after I
can't wait. What colours do I take decisions, decisions!
My good friend Jenny Davies from Widmire Farm had a baby girl this week
just in time to get ready for her white jods at Hartpury. Ali Berman
also gave birth to a little boy so a busy week!

Springs here? The weather's been great til today, Rusty's even spent an hour in the field!
Cam has been going great, he's advertised now just need to find him a nice home. Romeo has
admitted defeat in week two of his boot camp! No more bucking and threatening. Yvonne came
to ride him and he went super so she was pleased. She did say he looked tired though. All
three horses had a treatment each from Larry Bensusan and felt amazing to ride after. I
think Romeo was happy to go home and rest!
I went to my first murder mystery too, I was
Countess Bogov a Russian. Thanks to my iphone apps I can now say hello and goodbye.
I became judge for the day at Altogether Equestrians first dressage show. Me and Ali need
to work on our spellings though I think! Rusty was so brave today and let Josh sit on him all
be it for 5 seconds and had to eat a whole packet of polos in that time as it was
so stressful!
Josh & Rusty!

After three freezing days at Patchetts I got Rusty home. Thanks to Shelly for
hanging onto the other side of him walking down the track on thick ice. Tarley
did brilliant and won the Novice so worth all the effort. Still snowy at the
yard but we didn't give in - we will get the small school working!
First day back in work all the horses were good, second day heatwave (10) all very fresh and naughty!
Romeo who has come for training livery doesn't quiet know what's hit him. Lots of work and a very
busy yard of dogs running around, cows next door and people on top of the muck heap. I think nothing
will phase him from now on.
My contender horse Con or Cameron, can't make up my mind, is amazing! Such a super star and real
gentleman. I love riding him and would love Neil to let me keep him until I found an owner or
won some money! Below are some of the first photos...
Thursday I was up early; did my three then taught Kath in Tring at 9am on my way to work at Anna's.
As always a brilliant time working and the yard is looking great. Anna went off to the regionals
to train her team and clients.
Friday morning I had a lesson on an amazing chap, I was told it did me good as had to ride instead
of sitting there quietly! I was a bit sweaty for once! Thanks Anna I needed it, I've been working
my three very hard this weekend. Emily and Josh have had a great holiday riding too.
Diary out now to enter some Mediums once work picks up again this week. It's been hard having
a week off due to the snow

The last off Jan was busy working Rusty hard and I did a six hour
clinic at Jenny Davies's Widmire Farm . This was great fun showjumping
in the morning and flat lessons in the afternoon. Straight from there
I drove an hour to Harolds Park Farm to compete Karen Bennits My Left Clog.
Freezing cold, wet and dark on I got, Urane was very fresh new place and dark.
I've only ridden him four times so wasn't sure how much to ask in the test.
First novice I asked for to much in the walk and jogged so we came 2nd.
Second class did some more warming up and he got used to me and we won the Qualifier so very pleased.
On the Tuesday I picked up a gorgeous boy by Contender from Neil Fiddes his
videos are on his website, 5 years old and rides super. Wednesday I went
and rode Discovery Neils 4year old stallion, he had been on holiday for
two weeks so was fresh but omg can he jump and I now need to win the lottery!
Then back to the yard quick put Rusty on the lorry and go to Patchetts for a
lesson with Anna. Rusty was a good boy except for our 10m circle right
and had a poo in the simple change so has to rear, buck! Anna gave me a plan B
to remember aswell. The menages got frozen but thanks to shelly and the leveller
we could walk and trot on them. Saturday Hannah did well at the regionals and
came 11th , Jackie and Fellow had an off day as we all do.
I had a fab night out at Bury Farm Gala night then drove home in the snow!
Due to the snow Rustys regional prep wasn't going well! Bucking in the stable
on Monday and totally wired this was not going to be fun! Tarley Reeve Smith
came to our rescue and offered me her lorry as she had managed to get to
Patchetts. So I left her lorry at the top of the drive and walked or should
I say hung on to 18hhs of Rusty up a very snowy drive! Once at Patchetts we
unloaded in the dark then braved the warm up ring. Started well then some
one rode at us so lost the plot, more work then into his stable.
Got home 9 pm back there 8am this morning, rode again before plaiting ect.
Anna warmed us up and I now need to win the lottery to buy a Shamsheild hat
that she lent me for the test and a lovely Pikeur jacket that Shelly lent me
as my jacket is black and need to buy a hat with straps, but I do now like
Navy! In the ring we went the sound system had broke so big speakers instead
joy! Rusty knew the judges were different and the speakers. A couple of
lively moments due to the speakers crackling and a naughty buck where he
remembered he did it in the lesson. But we did walk to A! Canter
transition was explosive but we walked! 68% and we came 10th so happy as he was
very sharp. Still couldn't get my lorry out so his there one more night
then home hopefully tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can get riding the others
I have in too.

Rusty's settled in well and is enjoying a bit of turnout in the menage. We practiced our music
the day before the show, not good! As soon as he saw the white boards and the car the
excitement set in!
Music playing off we went, walk and simple changes... more of a rear buck! After an hour and a
half of work a few more run throughs we almost got a clear round.
Next day we went to Patchetts first time out since the nationals. So plenty of warm up
and in we went. He was tense at first in the trot then started to relax. I'm pleased to
say only one rear buck in the medium walk! Although I did have to think quick as
realised I was on the wrong rein. I managed to finish at the right place, let's hope I can
ride a clear round at the regionals!
Rusty shows some freestyle!
So lots of work from now on and sort our walk to canter out. I'm off to teach a clinic
at Widmir Farm this weekend which is always fun and off for a lesson with Anna
the following week to go through my music.

Happy New Year!!!
Not alot has been happening over Christmas but I have now moved back to Sharola Stud in Hertford
with Sue Reeve-Smith. I have been with Sue for many years before and decided it was time to go
back home. Rusty remembers everything so well, it's amazing as he hasn't been there for 4 years!
First day I got on from the mounting block by the barn not the menage, which mean't I got launched
bucking and passaging down the path! Then I remembered I only got on there when I went for a hack
which was always exciting! I'm lucky to be able to turn out in the small school when needed so
I decided he's been in for months as he hates the field I'll let him have a buck and a roll.
Within seconds Rusty knew what was coming - black boots on means turnout! On hindlegs round to
the school we went. Off the lunge going mental with Norman following - help! For once Norman came
to call before getting splattered! Rusty so enjoyed himself for all of 10 minutes then started
calling me to get him in.
I've got two super ponies to work and sell so I'II put some photos up shortly. I've been getting
back to my jumping roots so having a fun time. I can take on schooling, breaking, selling and
normal liveries again now which is nice. Focus ia now on regionals - holidays over!
Rusty & Norman training at home!

The last two weeks have been wet, windy, snow and cold!! I really do think I should take that job in Australia!
I spent a great day working for Anna at her music demo. Iceage decided to be covered in the green stuff
even after a bath! So on Pats third trip to tesco's the Vanish was ordered! Few drops off that he was a
sparkling grey. All the horse's looked fab and behaved so well with the Xmas trees. Anna only had one hand
to ride the freestyle. One hand in plaster up to her elbow didn't stop two time changes and half passes etc.
I find it hard with two!
Late drive home after a great party and then up to clip the beast. After an elephants does of sedative
clipping started, half hour later a top up! My vet said to her student we never normally give this much!
Looking gorgeous much to Rusty's displeasure he was hot clothed and rugged to the hilt - last clip!
All to find him the next day scared in his stable because he shredded his duck down duvet and the floor
was covered in White?
Good news though - Jackie Day qualified her Novice Music with 70% and Novice Restricted. Hannah has
qualified Prelim and me Elementary Music so not long now until Regionals.
Happy Birthday to Hayley and Happy Christmas to you all

I think I'm growing a hair ball inside from all the clipping I'm doing! Even though it's a horrid job I love the end result, my favourite this year is Inkie the cob. So hairy with full mane and feathers. When I'd finished no feathers and hogged!! I wish Rusty liked to be clipped, he's looking hairy again, he'll have to wait till I have the next £100 for sedation!
Winters here; horses and ponies fresh; clients falling off and more naughty ones for me to ride. Shiraz though is such a good boy I took him to Neil Fiddes for a jump, on the lorry, tacked up on lorry, off lorry and jumped super first time out. I now realise how normal he is and how bad Rusty is!
I picked up Widmire William who is lovely, part Spanish x warmblood Dallas lines. A real fun boy , if anyone wants a super mum/ daughter pc/rc cheap as Jenny is preggers please phone me.
I'm off to help Anna with her music demo Sunday then two days training the following week , please no snow! Me and Rusty have five pages on us in horse mag , we were a guinea pig for Dan Sheriff's masterclass. Rusty looks fab as always I needed more tan!

My friend Denise treated me to see Adelinde Cornelissen
at Dane Rawlings yard. This was a brilliant demo and she made all the horses
improve lots, I'm on track with Rusty, Parzival didn't perform properly for 9 years I'm on 7!!
No changes for Rusty till my next lesson but his new party trick is bucking not changes!
These are getting rather big and each time I tap him with the stick walk, trot or canter
huge buck. After working him so hard this week I thought he'd like a hack today nice sunshine
calm day. I got on no leaping up the track good start, past straw bales even better, very
sharp have a canter up the hill to get my leg on. So pleased turn for home, wrong move!
Broncking and bucking till I nearly came off thank god for a cross country jump that spooked him!
Head so much lower than his withers we piaffed and passaged all the way home almost safe.
This ride took all off 15 minutes but he came in like he'd been on the gallops and my chill
out day was staying on.
Shiraz I have to say now jumps and hacks on his own no problem at three years old!
No more
easy days for Rusty especially as my hayman Geramy has said snow for all of December! I'm
praying not! I have a new horse coming in next week to sell for my friend Jenny Davies
who owns Widmire farm, so will keep you posted.

The start of half term was busy trying to fit five days work into two.
On the Tuesday off we went to sunny Wiltshire, two horses, two kids and one dog! Our first lesson was exciting! Even after a two hour journey Rusty was very very sharp. As always Anna put me last of the day in case two hours is needed! Once he settled a bit our lateral work was great, so I thought we'd just work on that and changes tomorrow, oh no I was told we were going to do them!
Shane was riding and told to beware as not sure what will happen! So on a circle in counter canter once I could get my leg on ask for the change, he changed in front but not behind but had the idea. Next time I had to give him a tap when I ask, wow huge change and clean! Straight back to walk so it's not excitable. After a few rears, buck pirouettes just asking for canter, we changed the rein and started again. Anna was pleased and said these are defiantly his party piece.
Day two we managed them on a straight line down the long side and still walked after! Day three we were hoping he now had the edge off as Aspire Riding Group were coming for the day to watch and we were part of the demo. Showing off to a crowd we began our lesson, changes were good albeit excited at times before and some Ryan Sun kick outs after. Rusty has a few fans now though. I don't know about Rusty aching but I felt like I'd jumped a newcomers round each day! Vinnie came with us and he was a superstar too didn't put a foot wrong.
On the Friday a busy day teaching then off to Bury Farm Gala night. What a great night everyone dressed up in black tie and fab jumping. The party went on into the early hours, my legs suffered again from dancing. This week has been catching up on lessons and lots of clipping. JT came over yesterday and did photos of Shiraz and a video - he looks so nice now all clipped out. My niece and brother are over from Australia and its Rene’s birthday Tuesday and Josh's Wednesday so lots of birthday cake to eat.

My lesson went great with Anna at Patchetts. My canter half passes were better than my trot ones
but all going the right way - zig zags next!!
Thursday I went to help Tsarin at Bury Farm she rode a fantastic double clear in the Discovery
so really pleased. It was a packed show with everyone there to practice for the All Star show.
Wednesday was a busy day trying to make one sedation from the vet for Rusty last all day! First
clipping! I managed to get the dangerous bits - legs, tummy and head done then Martin Fox the
dentist was ready. Once the gag was on Rusty made Martins life very difficult even sedated!
More sedaline as a top up then try and finish clipping! Most of it done when Dave the Farrier turns
up. Poor Dave did get a bit hairy though as I couldn't stop as Rusty was livening up. Finally
all done and back in his stable a nice hot cloth of baby oil, dettol and hot water to make him gleam.
The next day I was bitten and of course he lept everywhere to tell me off for sedating him, so best
option lunge today or I'll get dumped for sure! First day ridden very prickly and sharp but he
felt mega once settled and Martin has done a brilliant job. Shiraz had his teeth done too and
is going so well now, over poles two foot higher and we hacked for the first time today and was he was super.
He’s so easy I'd forgotten what it’s like. I did try and get ridden photos but they didn't come out
very well but JT photography is up soon to take a load. Off to bootcamp this week to do our
changes. I'm not allowed out of the indoor school though!

Monday 10th October 2011.... |
|
|
What is going on with this weather? Vest on and moaning it's hot at the end of September, horses with winter coats not knowing what to do. Rusty of course very happy it's hot but not that he looks like a fluffy bear, he costs me so much in vet sedation to clip he has to wait till the end of October to be clipped.
What a great day we had with Baileys and Gareth Hughes. Rusty the diva caused alot of noise as soon as we got there, he remembered he had a stable last time he was there! Once in his stable he was happy and Jane from Baileys came to look him over and check if I was happy still with his diet. After having a lovely surprise from Hayley and Victoria, a cake with my national picture on for my birthday which I have to say was delicious!!
So in we went for our lesson, Gareth was pleased with us warming up, we are now on the bit most of the time! So the lesson began I'm so pleased I'd practiced, shoulder in, travers and half pass. We did canter half pass to, I got told off for to much sideways and that I needed to start riding in an advanced outline as finally he's ready and not a novice anymore. I have to say poll lower than the wither has saved me coming off lots though! It was great watching everyone's lesson you always learn something!
Chardonnay did me proud got home safe all be it in the dark and no lights in living. Glad my iPhone has a torch! Loving the hot weather Shiraz is broken and doesn't even mind the chickens, I'd forgotten what it's like riding a normal horse and how I puff on a three year old!! That soon changed I don't like getting hot so he is now off the leg with help from Rose and a lunge whip! Half passes are coming good; not to much angle so let's hope Anna thinks so on Wednesday. We're off to Patchetts for a lesson and bootcamp at the end of the month to establish changes. Think I'll need to hold on tight! I've loved watching HOYS this week and still can't believe the top riders and how they turn and gallop to those huge oxers. Before I sell Shiraz I will be poping a few poles on him as he is one that would get me back in the show jumping ring - he has a huge jump.

After three months of hard work with Rusty for the Regional’s and Nationals I was worn out on the Saturday! Back to normal though on Monday mucking out 8 , riding three, teaching and the school run.
Tuesday was my birthday and it was a big one (age)!! Dan phoned me in the morning and asked if I'd be a guinea pig for him for a magazine. I have to say that made my day posing on Rusty! The photographer was the same one who did my front cover so that was nice. Look out for us in next months Horse Magazine.
Rusty's had a few days off; now back to work practicing these half passes before our Gareth Hughes lesson on Wednesday. Baileys have been brilliant again sponsoring us riders. Our next blog will have photos and what we did in our lesson. Fingers crossed Chardonnay will get us there and back safely.
The Area Festivals went well this weekend and big well done to my good friend Shelly who won the Novice Open on her mums homebred Cinderella.
No more excuses that I can't fall off before the nationals - I'm now going to ride Shiraz for the first time!
|
| Monday 19th September 2011.... |

|
No rest for the wicked! Rusty was in very hard work following our boot camp. I decided that for our
Nationals prep I needed to hack on my own past the big black Haylage bales in case I'm in the ring
by the big screen!! After a work out in the school off we went albeit on two legs and then mostly
in the plough! By the third day of doing this we were down to one spin! So fingers crossed we're
in the other ring!
Saturday we went for a lesson with Ali Berman at Patchetts, this went well but still a little jolly.
Sunday we went to Anna's for a drilling. Rusty now likes his second home and settled in well. Early
Monday morning we had a call from Kaylie saying Rusty had flooded his stable and was going mad! Off
I went down the yard to hear him screaming at me looking like a skewbald! Washed down, walked in
hand to calm him and off course he bit me to tell me off as it was my fault he chewed the water
drinker pipe! Five barrows later a clean stable then tack up for our lesson. Test riding went well
so I think Anna was pleased.
Off we went in Chardonnay (lorry) On Wednesday to Stoneleigh. Three miles to go and my brakes failed!
I knew I had to get him there so driving on gears I kept going, I have to say I did get a bit worried
when I saw a sign saying 10% down hill incline! Holding my breath down we went think Norman and
Rusty wondered why I was singing! I got into the park over the bridge then we stopped seized up
and smelling off burning. Jenny Davies had sorted what stable we were in so off leapt Rusty and
walked up to his box. I only had an hour and a half left of the horse walk so on I got with Ali
leading me down to the collecting ring, poor Jenny sorted the recovery. Oh joy we were in the
ring with the screen! This was rather hairy going past it, it wasn't the picture it was the noise
of the generator.
Back in the collecting we became rather dangerous and I did nearly land in the dirt! One more walk
round the arena before it shut to find someone shouting your bandage is coming off, off I jumped
as he defiantly would go ballistic at that flapping. The poor steward was so pleased to get rid of
us! As I led him out Pat, Anna's mum took control of us and made us go into the bottom collecting
ring on our own and she worked us till we were more settled. Once back to the stable I went to find
poor Jenny. She actually was quite happy driving along in the recovery lorry chatting up the
recovery man! Chardonnay was dragged into the lorry park till Friday then will be recovered.
It was all hands on deck for team Rusty on Thursday morning; Pat met me at the collecting ring and escorted us
to the small ring where we were on our own. Still very sharp Anna then came to warm us up. Ali commented “was
I doing endurance as had been riding so long!”. With three stewards making us a clear path and Anna leading
us up in we went into the main ring. I have to say I was thrilled! Rusty did a clear round although a little tense!
I didn't though, I forgot my give and re-take which was expensive but I'm so proud of him and we came out to see
Anna jumping up and down cheering in the arch. At last all my friends and clients that came to watch saw what
we can do and not be the entertainment.
We came 8th and he loved the prize giving. A great night celebrating
then Friday morning the recovery truck came and a transporter for me and Rusty so we did go home in style!
I must say Shearwater were fantastic and I will defiantly recommend them for lorry insurance. A few days
off for Rusty now…..and I'll feel really old on Tuesday as it's my Birthday!

Well there was me thinking I'd have a quiet week after regional’s as never dreamed that we'd qualify! What a great day! The kids and I were tired the next day, but I had a full day of work.
Josh thinks Roland Tong is great, think it was the champagne in the lorry that did it! No day’s off for Rusty now so he had a couple of hacks to have a break from the school which were fun!! I've had so many lovely congratulations and lots of you’re an inspiration to us all! I thought wow may be I am riding well but it was followed with for putting up with Rusty his so lucky he has you!
So a weeks busman’s holiday at “Costa Anna Ross Davies”. We arrived with Rusty; excited to be somewhere new, two excited kids and a mad Norman!! Everyone knew we had arrived! Boot camp started that afternoon and on form we were lively! By the end of the week Rusty was amazing.
Josh was very happy as he went to Roland’s yard and he told me he doesn't want short boots anymore but long patent ones like Roland! I have put on a stone though as Anna is a brilliant cook - no micro-wave meals like I do!
Charlotte Springhall bought me a lovely horse over to try for one off my clients. Mr Bojangles went super so on the wagon he went to take home to Sara. Rusty was over the moon having a friend to terrorise for three hours on the way home, love the M25! Straight back to work this weekend and full steam ahead now with only two weeks until the nationals! We had a nice write up in the horse and hound too.

Regional preparation is in full flow with Rusty! It takes about a month with the last two weeks of hard hard work!
We went to Patchetts for a lesson with Anna Ross Davies; thank god I had learnt my test already as I had to ride it straight away! I got nervous for the first time with Ms Ross judging me. All went well - few things to work on but my chin was up - no comment on that!
Back to Patchetts on Saturday for a lesson with Ali as part of the wear out Rusty plan! Oh dear show jumping was on so a very lively Rusty came out. Poor Ali but it did him good to work through it.
Off to Bury Farm on Monday to ride my regional test, what a fab new indoor school it is was a shell when I left. All my girls came to watch much to Rusty's pleasure and I was pleased Sam came to hold him when I got on in the gales! We won with 69% but I forgot the give and retake the reins!
We had our saddle check on Tuesday and all was good. Anthony Batcholour let's me tack him up now! Dave my poor farrier was up at 8am on Wednesday to replace back shoes as Rusty moves them jumping off the lorry.
I'm in full teaching mode too with Jackie and Hannah at the Regional’s on Sunday. Back to Patchetts for a lesson Saturday which was fab. Early work out Sunday morning and a bath for Rusty then up to Keysoe to help Jackie and Hannah. They both did so well. Hannah's Disney just got a bit tense so lost a few marks and Jackie’s Fellow did well; just out off placing’s.
The kids were up at 6am today to get the yard done and then back off to Keysoe again for the Regional’s. Anna Ross Davies warmed us up and in we went! Everyone saying to me give and retake!! Least of my worries….we need to walk! Rusty was a star! After 7 years of work we did it! 70% and won the Regional Elementary Restricted!!! I'm so proud of him. He did come through for me today and I’m so pleased to be in the front of the prize giving!
A big thank you to Denise, Jackie and Ann for all their help holding, washing and grooming today. Oh and my Emily and Josh for behaving and Norman and Bengy the dogs for looking after the wagon! A big well done too to Ali who qualified Novice and Elementary Open and Roland for winning the Elementary Open.

After winning the music Rusty has had an easy week hacking and in the field so I can get Shiraz broken.
He is lovely I don't won't to sell him but needs must!
Kids are off school so time is short! Good week teaching hope it carries on. Then off to Kimpton show
with Emily who rode a lively cob called Blue, she has ridden him twice before so did really well to get
7th, think Blue would love hunting - he galloped around the show ring!
This week and next week is Rustys work hard time takes this long to get him chilled for the Regionals
- I hope! Lessons and a show booked so prep done fingers crossed now he performs!

Rusty's had a nice time in the field, lasted over an hour some days! More hacking this month as June was so busy.
Last week Larry Bensusan came over and checked all their backs Rusty as normal made a fuss but Mr and the others loved it!
Kirsty is now a fan of Larry too as I sent him to do one of my clients horses on her yard.
Cappuccino and Moet have gone in the field with a welsh pony called Stuart who of course is the boss! So baby time
is over for Shiraz and work time now begins then to be sold he is so nice though!
This week was time to practice
my music which was hard as there was a digger and workman behind the hedge of the school. Luckily Rusty is
quiet good now with machinery since being at Bury Farm with the lovely new indoor school being built. No
workman Sunday so iPod on off we went trying to get it perfect. Off to Patchetts today after doing the work on the yard,
we had a great time and won with 71% so I'm very pleased. Then back to finish the yard, pick up kids and do tesco's!

Fame at last! I'm on the front cover of Horse magazine for July. Rusty likes 30 degrees heat
and won with his best score to date 73%. So music next and medium area festivals to qualify
for. The lovely Bob Woodward from County Equine sponsored me with some shavings which is a fantastic help.
I started breaking Moet and Shiraz boy can they bronc!! Could be fun when I get on! Today
I clipped Aimee Witkin's pony Ferrari who have been picked for the Pony European Team so very
exciting times.

Busy busy busy! Not sure about the rain tho! With three new babies to deal with
on the yard and Rusty the biggest diva off all I haven't stopped! Nuts off for Moet,
Cappuccino is let off until next year and Shiraz has been great. All on the walker
and Shiraz jumped out of the field with miles to spare!!
Then on Thursday I got a call from Charlotte Holes to ask if I'd do Inter-County!
I said yes but Rusty had had a quiet week.... not good! Two days to hammer him not enough!
Off we went on the Sunday to Norton Heath first test nearly a clear round on a
good note we walked!!!! After 3 hours wait and winter weather rusty was really
energised! We reared above the poor readers head and did massive broncs in the test!!
Thank god for my team mates who did so well which made us the winners!!
I've never won a rug, fizz and sash for rusty being so naughty so about time lol!
Hayley did brilliant on her team debut too!
This weekend I went back to norton heath to do the elementries, I have to say I
was dreading it after rusty was so naughty! Then the judge was Paul Hayler
my team trainer and my other team trainer Mark Ruddock was in the other shed
joy! Thankfully we won! I've decided rusty has mixed with grand prix stars
like Pegasus mk and bayford hall dilagio so thinks his grand prix and only
does one test! On a sad note I send my love to Di who lost Mac this
week such a super horse!

Straight back to work after the Inter-Regionals. I was given some great photos from
Ming who came with Vicki to watch on the Saturday.
My clients also had a good weekend, Kath and Wilbor came 2nd in their combined training,
Amy and Eyres 5th at Bury farm dressage and Vicki and Dullen 6th. This weekend Vicki
came 2nd so realy well done! Jackie Day and Fellow went and won the Novice Championship
at Bury Farm but Fellow didn't like his sash! After all my clients doing well I thought
I'd better catch up!
Rusty and I went to Bluegate Hall to do both Elementary's, I'm happy to say we were
1st and 2nd and the best part was that we walked! So instead of getting 3's we got
6's for our walk and a 9 for our medium trot so very happy.
On Thursday I drove from Hertfordshire to Oxfordshire then to Wiltshire in my truck
moving Anna. Friday I had a great morning doing a photoshoot for Horse magazine. I
was very lucky to ride a wonderful mare called Bertia who is owned by the Southern
Cross Stud and in training with Anna look out for the August issue.
This Saturday was exciting; me and Sarah went to pick up three youngsters from Neil Fiddes.
Two bay colts and a big chestnut all very well bred. After loosing both colts across
acres off pea fields with hip high thistles in them we managed to get them all on the
box and home safley into stables. They have settled in nicely so now the hard work
begins handling and breaking them.

Not sure if I like all these bank holidays keep forgetting what day it is!
The royal wedding looked good on sky plus (fast forward). I worked all day
so normal day for me. I'm still surprised how many people are on the M1 at
6.30am on a Saturday ! Good day working for Anna tho.
Corgeous Andre my International Vet came up to give Rusty his annual MOT, all the girls
were happy on the yard - make up on! I had a great lesson with Anna on the Wednesday
all be it with Ali Berman and Judy Filmston Williams watching.
I've just got back from doing Annas yard for two days as she's competing in
Germany and did very well 4th and 5th. What a fab time I've had so many fantastic
horses to do, but I do miss Benjy (Normans dad) as we've had him at home all week.
Good week ahead getting Rusty working hard for Gareths lesson and Inter Regionals.
A big congrats to Hayley and Harry who have got picked for the inter county teams! Kxx

What a great two weeks off sun! I had a great few days at Hartbury, Jackie and Fellow did really well, even though we got kicked out of the horse walk on our first attempt at 7am!
After some canter work I then lead Fellow round. He managed to rear but not move all the flower pots this time! A very excited and tense Fellow went into the main arena but he did hold it together but jogged in the walk and his tense trot showed, so summer qualification now to get!
Caroline and Arty got two Fourths at the Chiltern and Thames Champs so very pleased with them. I had a great lesson with Anna on Wednesday albeit very hot, our latral work is definetly coming on now. I was proud of Rusty as Patchetts had Show Jumping going on and he held it all together.
Thursday I set off for Addington with Dan Sheriff for the CDI. Once there Laurence was plaited and went in for his trot up, he showed off very well and decided that he liked all the ponies best. Friday was the Grand Prix, my plaiting lesson payed off my rosebud plaits looked good! Dan did great came 7th against some very good horses.
Kerri Bates who works at Annas with me won the International Young Riders class so that was brilliant. Dan was last on in the music on Saturday at 9pm, Laurence danced so well and with his Totalis trot he is such a crowd pleaser, he came 5th so very happy and really showed off in the prizegiving which the crowd loved.
Rusty was happy to have me back Sunday we went for an early morning hack with Rose then I fell asleep through some off Badminton. The next few days is doing my homework then back to Patchetts on Wednesday for another lesson.
Hello to Angie in Australia who keeps up to date with me by my blog lots of love x

Wow what a faboulous two weeks! I went to Patchetts on the Wednesday and had a great lesson with Anna although I dont think Rusty agreed as he has had five lessons in eight days!
I then had a call to ask if i could go to Milton for a viewing day on the Sunday for the Eastern Team, so my first day off in three weeks was back in the lorry. Emily came with me and was groom as it was mothers day. Rusty was very good and scored 70% and a 9 so made my day, boot camp worked!!
The Baileys competition winners were announced and Tania Manning and Mr won for me, so off to Gareth Hughes in May for the day. I'm sure Tania will have her camara ready, if you're on facebook loads of great pictures and videos to watch.
On Friday I groomed for Dan Sheriff at the Premier League at Keysoe. I managed to get my plaits nice and high but could be tighter so booked a lesson!! Laurence went in the Grand Prix and went brilliant so won the class. Then Frank went into the National 6 year old class and was super, so we stayed and did the International 6 year old class. Frank won both so a hat-rick all in all!!
I must get a quick unpick though as it took me the length of the A1 to unplait Frank - good job Dan drives well. Today Victoria and Hayley text me to say I'm on the Eastern Team so no rest for Rusty - luckily he's booked in for lessons as I'm working for Anna in May. Congratulations to Hayley too as her and Harry made the reserve list so watch this space!
I'm off to the Winters on Friday to help Jackie Day and Fellow so fingers crossed they will go well. |

Wow I think I'm getting a tan! What a lovely two weeks no mud, less leg washing and nice baths! For me though glad I started the diet early and time to get out the Johnson's tinted moisturiser and dry my hair properly as no more woolly hats.
Rusty's been enjoying the odd day in the field but is does take longer to put on four brushing boots, four overreach, fly rug and mask than the time he spends in the field! I went for a lesson with Anna at Patchetts on Wednesday which was great - started more lateral work much to his disgust and medium music was mentioned so I'm very happy.
Back on the lorry on the Friday and down to Banbury with Anna for three days. Rusty really worked well and definitely has relaxed top line and long neck installed as well as traver in canter after lots of answering back on day one and two. Day three he was tired but super. I have to say my legs had to work a bit for the first time in five years!!
Norman had a brilliant time to and I didn't manage to loose him this time as he was kept on a lunge line. Today we went to V and Hayley's to do the shortlist for the Equine Affairs / Baileys competition, we all had a great evening looking through all the riders and what a great effort everyone had made.
Back off to Patchetts on Wednesday for the last boot camp lesson so I better practise tomorrow!! Entry forms to send off for shows in the Easter holidays and put all this great training to use.

I've had a busy two weeks but has been great this week with the sun out!
Rusty went for his inter-county viewing day with Mark Ruddock. I shared a lesson with one of my clients who was very nervous about being in the same ring as Rusty! Mark liked both of us so fingers crossed, he also commented on how much Rusty has improved so I was really happy - Oh and on my sage green colour scheme!
I went for a hack with Rose early one Sunday morning which was great apart from piaffing for twenty minutes and in the first ten minutes ten cyclists came towards us. I have to say i can ride quiet a few horses in one day but after an hours hack my bum hurt!
Gerry went out in the field for the first time in six months with sedation though and was a very good boy so hopefully will be a lot quieter to ride now. So on Saturday I held my breath and as such a nice warm day I put the beast out! Rusty was funny - he didn't know whether to buck, gallop or roll then eating was t he best option. He hasn't been in a field for about a year so I was worried but he lasted forty minutes which was great before showing off and setting off all the others!! So as normal mum came running to his call.
My clients have been filling in their forms and taking pictures for the Equine Affairs / Baileys competition so its exciting times. I'm off training for three days soon so looking forward to that then book more shows for April before the dreaded lorry plating!! I'm off to do the lottery as think its time for a new box - bless her, Chardonnay my Iveco is getting old. |

I've had a great few weeks off work and getting my clients to fill in the competition forms for Baileys. This comp has got my clients excited and I've told them lipstick on in the portrait pic!
I'm pleased half terms over - back working the boys in piece although Emily does muck out well now. I'm off for a lesson with Mark Ruddock on Saturday for the Inter County Team selection so hopefully rusty will show off and behave!! |

What a fab two weeks!
I took Rusty to Patchetts on the Monday to do his music. As Ali put it he won the warm up, feeling a nice calm Rusty; in the ring I went. Much to Rusty's delight there were poo buckets in the corners! Of course he has never seen these before! We started tense but not to bad until the dreaded walk, this time next to the poo bucket so more of an excuse to jump about! Missing half our floor plan we still ended up finishing with the Music and not a bad score to come 6th.
Saturday it was Hannah and Jackie's turn at the Regional's. So me and Norman went to help them in the warm-up. As I got there Hannah was a bit stressed as the prize giving had been going on in the next ring which set a few horses off in the warm-up. This was to our advantage as it woke Disney up! In to the Novice Music class they went and I'm pleased to say rode a lovely flowing test to come 8th.
A four hour gap meant a nice lunch and a glass of rose then time to help a very nervous Jackie. First into the tack shop to keep her mind of everything and buy Fellow some bling, a nice browband! Fellow warmed up great and into the ring they went. I have to say I've never seen Jackie ride so well in a test before and what a day to do it! After an agonising four hour wait they came 2nd out off forty with 70% in the Prelim. I'm so proud off them both our hard work is paying off.
After a busy week off work Rusty decided he is now more stallionie than Dan's stallions and was very very naughty to ride yesterday - joy the day before a show! With my clients going so well I thought I'd better practice what I preach and took Rusty out. So up lunging him at six this morning before going to Keysoe. I have to say I went to ride a clear round and in the first test we did! I am thankful to Gill the collecting steward though as when we started our party trick off counting to five whilst rearing I gave her the nod and with a shout and a wave with the clip board off into the ring we went for the second time. The wind had picked up so ring three was spooky a tense test but feet on the floor! We won both classes so I'm over the moon and Rusty's back in my good books again until I hack him tomorrow!!

The last two weeks I’ve been working hard and the boys too!
I'm really enjoying being freelance; more time for my clients and my horses. Rusty is definitely happy to have mum back all to himself - such a diva! We had one of the girls fall off at the yard at the weekend, her horse just tripped but it was a bad fall. Josh and I were cleaning the walker at the time; he was impressed though when the ambulance came! But a lesson to us all - wear a hat - that's what saved her life!!
Needless to say I have inherited two more horses to do last week and cover DIY services. I thought I’d retired he he! Today I went to work for Anna Ross Davies with Rusty in tow. I think he now knows the journey well and doesn't even bang on the box! He always has the same stable so is very settled now down there. We lunged him in the morning then I had a lesson in the afternoon which was brilliant! We practised my music at full volume from the car which did excite him, I think it was the two doors open and boot up that he took hum bridge to, but after a bronking fit we worked relaxed and supple.
I did have a great compliment though, that Anna's not scared for me in my lessons any more and likes the new Rusty! Flying changes were even mentioned so I’m so excited!! I'm off to Patchetts tomorrow for my Music, after fours hours travelling, lunging and a hard lesson today I hope to ride a clear round!

Rusty has definitely settled in now - he even rides with the chickens on the grass next to him and walks out of his stable instead of jumping out! I've been riding down the spooky end so that I can look in the judges box window at my position because we are off for a weekend of training which involves being videoed!
Gerry is coming on great and seems to be standing up to more work so fingers crossed. I have had a great few weeks of work so hope that continues. I ride and teach Sarah Hulmes four horses twice a week and I’m glad to say our hard work has paid off as Sarah won her first BD class and was also third. Friday we went to Anna's; Rusty now thinks hers is home from home and eats now which is great. Our lesson on Friday was very good and calm! Saturday two lessons and test riding all on video! Right elbow in left leg forward chin up in mediums!! I scored 65 in the test and have to improve on Sunday. Last lesson a different Rusty again, soft, supple and loads of cadence I made only one mistake in the test, took my leg off in counter canter so broke a stride shame. Score this time was between 68 and 70 so really pleased and on the video; so much difference.
We did all have fun being the four judges at C. Many lessons were learnt; how you think the test felt and when you look back how different it looks. So always video yourself when you can and work on those little problems. Anna was very pleased how we have improved in the last few months so I’m really pleased, she also commented how amazing he looks since Baileys have sorted his diet. Music at Patchetts at the end of the month lets hope the rideable Rusty continues!!!
A few of my clients have qualified for the Regional’s so hard work for them and me from now on.

Happy New Year!!!
Not much to write this time I'm afraid the boys had Christmas week off which was exciting for them and dangerous for me as i took them out in the snow each day for a roll and buck! Yes they did buck high with me on the end off the lunge line.
Christmas over and back riding yeah! I have to say i am back on the treadmill from now on as my breeches were a bit tight ! Every time i want to stop i think of the white breeches going back on! Rusty came back super on day one then as normal got livelier as the week went on. This time the chickens are no problem but the drips from the tree are!
Gerry has been a good boy too i even got Derri on with help of my tried and tested body protector. New Years Eve i had my first day off for a while, poor Selina did the boys for me and came down to find Rusty in a soaking wet stable where he'd pulled his water drinker off. I think this was his plan as now he has been given an even bigger stable!
Back to normal from now on Dave the farrier tomorrow, teaching and riding in the morning then working the boys in the afternoon got to get myself fit as off training on the 14th for the weekend. The BD books out ready to send off entries now my lorry is fixed.
New years resolution is to win lots and try and get my lorry resprayed !

Happy Christmas!!! Snow, snow, snow I can't believe its back again! I luckily had three days of sensible work with Rusty; working on my music plan after I had to get my kids to sit with the chickens and give him polo's whilst I was on him.
So on the Tuesday I managed to start my lorry even though it was minus 5 but then the accelerator cable snapped! So off I went to Patchetts in my car! What a shame as this was my last chance to qualify for the music, next year will be different more time to compete.
I got back on Gerry with the help of some acp; he was great didn’t mind the stag , chickens or ducks. Olympia was brilliant Anna Ross Davies and Pegasus MK were competing. They did so well even though MK was a bit stage struck. All inspired Rusty worked super the next few days then came the snow!! Luckily I managed to get all my clients lessons and schooling in before the freeze and snow.
I did have some sad news yesterday though that we lost Magnum Force. He was a very sharp, naughty ride but the softest horse on the ground to be around. I have to say on his last ride with Linda he dumped her even at the grand old age of thirty two!!! So a quiet week this week leading up to Christmas. I’m praying for the snow to go so I can get back to work. Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and good luck for the New Year

What a sad and exciting two weeks. I did my last week as yard manager at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre. This was very emotional as I had built a great team there and wonderful liveries. We all went to Brightwells Auction and had a brilliant time. Me more than others at times; as Frazer kept filling my red wine up!! There was a super two year old Stallion by Jazz; he snorted and went round with his tail up just like Rusty does. I was smitten; good job I’ve no credit card at the moment!!
On the Saturday we made the move to Dan Sheriff’s beautiful yard in Bayford Hertford. As per normal Rusty made an entrance off the lorry. Gerry the adult walked off like a dream and lead Rusty round to his new stable. Both settled in well and Rusty started to eat which was good. Its amazing that he knows the difference between moving and staying away at shows.
The next day Rusty had a few drips in his stable from condensation; this sent him mad - such a diver!! Everyone is so lovely up here but the comments were yours are lively boys aren’t they, i think they know we've arrived! After being lead to the outdoor school on day one we survived the full size stag statue, ducks on the pond and free range chickens!! I think Rusty was thinking bring back the massive crane!!!
What a week to go freelance though…..snow snow snow! So with no work the boys had my full attention in the day even though I had the flu most of the week. Luckily I could ride in the indoor school , after lots of apologising to other users as Rusty thought snow, new place and minus degrees was a good enough excuse to revert back to being a mad beast again.
I was due to do the quadrille at Oldencraig this Sunday but it was cancelled due to the snow. Hopefully we will be doing it on the 19th though. I’m off to Patchetts Tuesday for a music class so I’m definitely working him twice tomorrow!! If any one needs help with schooling, competeing or lessons please don’t hesitate to call me.

Well what a busy two weeks! The first weekend I went down to Anna Ross Davies for a weekend of training. I have to say I was so pleased with Rusty; he went super in his lessons. I still have the problem of him not eating short feed when away so I had to hand feed him through the day. On the Sunday we went to Aston le Walls for two Elementary tests. This was a lovely quiet show but with building work going on as they are building a new indoor school, this was home from home for Rusty he is now used to riding next to diggers, cranes and sissorlifts!!!
I roped Ben Martin into helping me get him off the box thinking a big strong man can hold him…no rusty jumped as normal! Once on and in the collecting ring I realised how well he felt and that we had no calmer in him! In the first test we were very very sharp and went from 8 to 1 for our walk which was bucking from side to side until I cantered! This is a new trick. So in shame we walked back to the collecting ring to be told to keep trotting until his next test.
An hour later we went back in and this time I could get my leg on! The dreaded walk was at the end this time which became a sideways moment in piaffe up the center line until I got to X and managed to get medium trot! Rusty gave the spectators some entertainment and still got two seconds but lots of work on getting him to relax and eat when he is away as he runs on adrenaline on days like this.
Wow once back home I now have a super horse to ride so I will be going away more often until he can cope. On Saturday I went to the Brightwells Auction with my liveries for my leaving do; we had a great evening….I did have a few to drink though!
Sunday I spent on the yard and judging the Novice, Elementary and Music classes. I managed to help Sharon Bickers warm up for her test and she was 4th out of 22 at her first time at trying so I was really pleased. This week is very sad as I move on Saturday. I will miss my team so much and I know I will be in tears saying bye to them and my liveries. I will be teaching at Bury every Wednesday though so now its time to get advertised and get out competing! If anyone needs training or horses ridden please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Rusty's been working well since our show. He's off for training this week for two days with Anna Ross-Davies and a show at Aston le Walls on the Sunday so hopefully we will get our qualification. No excuse with Anna warming me up!!
Gerry is back in work and looking good so hopefully will be back in full work soon as long as he keeps his shoes on! His new trick is bucking around the stable and pulling them off.
After two hours clipping and three lots of sedation Rusty looks great but he has taken it out on me big time by being very very sharp. He didnt appreciate being like a normal horse (quiet) for two hours!! I did my baileys pics and write up and you can see a difference in a month so very pleased.

I’m happy again now that Rusty has won again! I was getting worried that my lovely new numnah from Hayley and Victoria has green writing on it, but Anna Ross Davies soon put me right by saying it doesn’t affect Laura Bechtolsheimer - her colours are green!!
So with that in mind I worked Rusty so hard everyday in all of the 3 indoor schools, first few days he had a strop being told what to do but with help from Sam and Vicky chasing me with the poo fork, closest thing to hand when I was stuck rearing up by the gate! He’s very clever though and can count to 10 now with his front legs; all I need to say is high ho silver away!! Day three he was ride able again and working much more through so I’m happy. I’ve also found the best way to plait him is to put the equissage pad on; he’s so scared of the vibrating he stands rock solid! It was all worth while though as we won and came 2nd in the other class which was my fault as I relaxed in the Elementary 50 and he couldn’t resist a leap and buck in the walk to canter!
I’ve been working on our half passes this week which seem to be getting better. Must enter some shows now before the end of November cut off and will do a Music too.
I'm off horsey shopping tomorrow with Julia for new riding school horses so will be fun, then on Tuesday Gareth recons I’m running the pony day! I've got away without doing it for two years so I may have to hide! Then it’s the joyous job of clipping Rusty only with an elephant’s dose of sedative from the vet though!

Rusty and I went for a lesson with Mark Ruddock at Victoria’s and Hayley’s. I was very pleased with him as he actually put a foot on the ramp coming off the lorry so getting better! Being able to put him in a stable whilst I watched some of Hayley’s lesson was great, Rusty also loved it… digging up Harry’s bed! It was nice to be back out again. Rusty worked really well and only airs off the floor once!
Busy weekend of show jumping at ours, so yesterday me and the girls all jumped round the course. I was on another Gerry - 14.2 who needed a bit of a short out fun being on a little one again. Today I went cross-country for my tried and tested Champion body protector. This was so much fun I haven’t done cross-country for about 15 years! Thankfully Sam lent me Melody who is amazing and I had two warm up jumps then she got her own back on me and made me jump the big barge, Mel must have felt my relief jumping it first time that we galloped out off control for along way after! JT took some brilliant pictures and video which I’ll put on my gallery and it did make Sam’s day telling me to get on with it and seeing me out off control on her horse.
Back to the serious stuff the rest off the week BD Dressage at Bury on Saturday so trying to ware Rusty out for his two Elementary tests, he always plays to the crowd at home!

After being at the Nationals I’m all inspired, so Rusty was put through his paces! I just pretended my 15 meter circles in travers were like MK's pirouettes!!
No competing this month as had my Birthday, a Wedding with Elvis there and my brother and his family are back from Australia for a holiday, so catching up with them. I have also decided to go freelance again which is scary but I will have more time to compete. I'll really miss my team but Lauren soon cheered me up by saying “brill we can go to Alan’s club now for your leaving do!!”.
I went to Patchetts on Saturday with four of my clients - Sam and Sarah did well both got 6th and in the prize giving so I was pleased - especially as I got up at 5am to take them! Jackie and Hanna’s horses were both a bit off colour but they remembered their tests! Norman was the star of the show and everyone there recognised he was a son of Bengy.
Hayley came to the yard today with Emma from Baileys Horse Feeds who was very nice. Rusty tried to give her a love bite and he wasn’t sure about the weigh tape but liked posing! I can’t believe how lucky we are to have Emma come and see us. As long as no maize I’m happy!
My last weekend off for a while so helping Anna Ross Davies move on Saturday then my mum and dads 50th anniversary Sunday. Music next and make sure all qualified for the Winters.

I’m tired and inspired! I was very lucky to spend four days, at the National Champs at Stoneleigh, grooming for Anna Ross Davies. I had a wonderful time watching talented horses and rider’s as well as looking after Merrie and MK who both behaved impeccably not like Rusty staying away at shows!!
We were up early doing the horse walk then ready for the competitions. Anna was brilliant; Merrie was in the top ten both tests and MK 7th in the Grand Prix and Kur. I have to say I did have a tear in my eye watching him in the music as after grooming them both for hours and being with them all day we became good friends. I still have to pop in each day and give Merrie her scratch and MK his polo - real superstars.
I’m definitely not as fit as I used to be though. My legs killed me with all that walking but it saved me a fortune as I was too busy and my legs to sore to shop!!
I did meet up with lots of friends though and made great new ones so had an amazing time. Going back to work on Monday was hard!! Rusty was very pleased to see me and made me ride with my legs off his sides for an hour, then Sam had to lead me for a bit as so excited! I was finally getting my leg on when the vets walked two donkeys into Arena 3!!!!
Gerry’s trotting now bit by bit so increasing his work load. I think I’ll enter some Music’s now and get back out competing in October. September is always a bit mad. Norman the pup is doing well and the kids are back at school yeh!!

For the first time in four years Rusty and I had a week off!! It took me three days to relax as I’m so used to doing 13 hour days. Rusty was chilled for the first three too then had fun going up and down to the walker with poor Lauren!
Back to work and a happy Rusty who was lovely to ride day one, day two and three was exciting; definitely told me off for to many days away…such a diva! Andre phoned and said he had good and bad news on Gerry! Good news was that his hopefully recovered now, bad news needs riding in walk for 20mins! So after six weeks box rest I legged Derri up who said since her holiday jumping off a waterfall she is brave now so Gerry’s not a problem he he! I have to say he was a very good boy so now working well in walk back to proper work soon. We now have a new addition to the family - Norman the puppy, he will hopefully bring me some luck as his dad is Bengi - Anna Ross Davies dog and Ben Martin owns his mum - Ben won two Regional’s this month so lets hope something rubs off!!

Well, me and the boys have had an interesting two weeks with lots of ups and downs!
I took my vets advice to try Rusty on a handful of maize in his feed, for four days this was fine then in my lesson with Anna Ross he decided to turn into one of my children on e numbers!!! I got a stern lesson from Anna and was on the phone to Baileys when I got off. Rusty definitely reacts to any straight feeds so maize and oats are out, high oil diet only!
Intense boot camp for the next few days then the Regional’s. I got up at 5.30 with the kids asleep in the car, rode Rusty and plaited him, then on the lorry to Addington. I learnt a lot that day - not to warm him up to long in a busy collecting ring as he boils up and don’t practice the rein back! Ali Berman turned up so gave me some great advice before going in the ring.
As the bell rang we got covered in black biting flies, our first halt was piaffe then in the rein back rusty decided to wave at the judges with his front legs! By then the flies we're getting worse so a bronk in medium canter to get rid of them made him feel better! We did get 7's and 8's except for these three costly mistakes with three judges. I got off and decided to become a nail technician instead!
After watching the video and reading the judges comments I calmed down and focused on the Home International Viewing Day on Sunday. Off we went to James Burtwells - I managed to ride Elementary 53 calmly which was fab especially as Rusty had had two days off, and with an audience of people and dogs at the side of the arena he rose to the occasion. The big mirrors were fab but back on the treadmill for me!!
Gerry is doing well - bucking the height of the horse walker each day, cant wait to get back on him, not long now.

The last two weeks have been busy as normal at work, the boys are doing well, trying hard to get out off work!!
After holding Gerry with the vet for two hours, which he did not enjoy, after all the tests the out come is good. Just a strain so rest and bring back to work slowly.
Three days before Addington Rusty got stung on his lip! After lots off coaxing I finally managed to get cream and bonjela on him! I wont do this again though... we exploded around the menage!! Addington was interesting - I had a brain lapse and went wrong twice!! I think I was riding Elementry 43 when I was actually doing 59! Oh well at least I wont do that again and definatly not at the Regionals!!
Saturday we had a rounders match and BBQ at work (Bury Farm EC)... I didnt know rounders was so dangerous! I've got bruises from the ball hitting me in the face and on my foot - I think I'II umpire next time. Feeling very stiff and a black eye I rode cara at Keysoe for Sara Frances. She was very green and gremlins in the bushes at C but came home with a rossette so pleased. Training with Anna Ross-Davies on Tuesday - I'm sure me and Rusty will work hard. I wont show her my test sheet with minus six on it though! Then on the 3rd of Augest I'm off to Widmer Farm week after Regionals so the hard work starts now!

After winning at Keysoe the boys have had a few weeks at home working and hacking and Gerry did his first ever jump lesson too which he found very exciting, i must admit Ernest Dillion put me through my paces which was great. It was so nice to leave the floor again even though i did get a bit worried when he made me jump a filler first not even a cross pole in site!
The following week it was training with Anna Ross-Davies but Rusty decided to cut his lip some how, trying to get a photo off it on my phone was very difficult, he is such a diva so discribing it to my vet Andre Buthe was easier.
So.... Gerry came out for the lesson who then moved a shoe! This week Rusty and I had team training with James Burtwell which was very good he worked super even with the boys using machines next door in menege 2.... just one off the floor moment so i'm very proud!
Today Andre came to check Gerry as we thought he'd bruised his foot but it seems he now has growing pains!! So rest for a couple off weeks, I'm sure he knew we've entered him in three competions!
Rusty's off to Addington on the 22nd to practice our Regional test ... lets hope we can walk this time!
