COMPETITION & TRAINING: Sam Penn Experienced Eventer & Trainer
I began as a child in the show ring and moving on to show jumping as a junior and
through young riders. In 2003 I moved to Ireland to work as head girl for the late Paul Darragh,
returning home and switching to eventing some two years later to ride for Mrs Anne Burnet.
At the beginning of 2006 Ian Bareham offered me the opportunity to become 'stable jockey' and
return to Golden Cross, a place in which I worked as a groom prior to my time in Ireland.
Taking on a team of five, mostly novice horses with room to expand, a move which has so far
been extremely successful, I hope to be able to continue producing youngsters to follow in the
footsteps of top international horses, Chamrock and Spin Doctor amongst others who started their
careers here at Golden Cross. (Latest Summary Diary information can be seen

EQUINE VET & DENTIST: SALLY KINGSLEY, MRCVS (BBC TVs Vets in practice)
Sally Kingsley starred on BBC TVs Vets in practice where the cameras
followed her work in equine practice, and her off-duty life as an
advanced event rider, for over two years. During that time Sally
enjoyed sedating for several equine dental technicians and was bowled
over by the improvement in her own competition horse, Polaris, after
having him treated by an American-trained dentist before Blenheim
three-star three-day.
"I thought how rewarding it must be" says Sally "to improve the
comfort of healthy, active horses and work with owners who appreciate
the instant transformation in their horses way of going. Its a huge
advantage that, as a vet, I can also provide my own sedation where
necessary"
She was right: after a years further training at the Academy of
Equine Dentistry in Idaho, Sally certified and now has her own
busy practice, specialising in competition and problem horses.
Her client base is mainly in the North East, but she also works
as far afield as Surrey, Sussex, Bucks and Gloucs.
